The final track of the album. This song is my tribute to Dusty Hill. The bassist and co-lead singer of one of the coolest bluesrockbands of all time: ZZ-Top. Dusty's bass playing was a critical part of ZZ-Top's sound for over 50 years and he also complemented the showmanship of Billy in an excellent way. His lead and backingvocals were also a big factor and the synchronicity with Billy made every show a great spectacle. After a period of declining health, Dusty passed away in 2021 during his sleep at the age of 73. Thank you for all those years of great music, videos, entertainment and inspiration.

This song began with Didier coming up with it on his acoustic guitar. However, when he first sent it to Josh, he had played electric guitar, bass, keys, and drums on it, because he is a very talented multi-intrumentalist. This song passes the stool test, though, which is the question of whether it sounds good with someone just sitting on a stool with a guitar, playing and singing it. So, when we asked him to give us a version that we could add to, it was already a great song that he sent us with just him singing over his acoustic guitar.
Tez was the first one up on this one, adding the fiery fills throughout, as well as the co-solo at the end. Ken entered the fray next, adding his rock solid, dynamic drums. Once the drums were down giving him something to play against, Josh added his fretless bass to the song. Being very excited about this one, he also added piano, organ, and eventually the lead guitar solo at the end. He also went in and added all the vocal harmonies throughout. Stephen then brought up the rear with some really cool textural guitar throughout.
Once we had it in the bag, we asked Tez to produce and mix it for us, which he did in his usual expert fashion.
This is our first song with Didier, but we hope it's just the beginning of his new inclusion into the Eclectic Collective family. He has a lot of great music on his page, which is worth checking out, too. We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, there was a small group of music-loving aliens who decided to live among humans, blending in, absorbing their musical art, and trying to contribute with their own.😜
On a planet Earth plagued by wars, hatred, climate change, and junk food, with 99 percent of the wealth held by just 1 percent of humanity, these somewhat alienated aliens one day discovered that even the dark can be beautiful.

So this little bunch of aliens with their questionably produced music decided that yes, absolutely, they had to at least try to pay tribute to that Earth artist who felt anything but Earthbound in his noble intentions.
They just had to do it. Especially after dear Carl helped ease the pain of our guitarist’s clumsy fall down the stairs with his poetry, music, and photography (she’s fine, don’t worry ). 😂

The Beautiful Dark (Carl's Song)

Hey everyone,
I’m Tony ; guitarist, songwriter, and a lifelong fan of instrumental guitarrock. I’ve been playing guitar for about 35 years now, spending many of those years in different bands playing both original songs and covers.
Becoming a professional musician was always my dream, but here in the Netherlands it turned out to be pretty tough to make a living from music alone, even when I gave guitarlessons on the side. Around 2012, I stopped performing live after my last band — a classicrock coverband — fell apart after yet another line-up change.
To keep the spark alive, I started a studio project and challenged myself to write some instrumental rocktracks — something I’d always wanted to do but never really had the time for. This led to my EP “Tony Silverhill & The Spiritual Sinners” in 2018, followed by my full-length album “The Next Level” in 2022.
I’m not much of a self-promoter — I prefer spending my time on the music itself rather than on social media — and since instrumental guitarrock is pretty niche, my songs never reached a massive audience. But honestly, that’s fine by me. This way of working fits perfectly with my life now. I have a son, who’s 8 years old and already my biggest fan — he’s even started playing guitar himself! Even if I was only making music for him, that would be reason enough to keep going!
By day I work in a factory to support my family — not exactly rock & roll, but it gives me total artistic freedom because I`m not financially dependent on music. I make what I love, and I won’t release it until I think it’s truly ready. If that takes a little longer, so be it.
My roots are in metal — I grew up on bands like Iron Maiden, AC/DC, and Metallica. But back in the ‘90s, I went to a G3 concert and saw  Joe Satriani and Steve Vai which really sparked my love for instrumental songs. I’m also a big fan of bluesy rockplayers like Gary Moore, Billy Gibbons, Angus Young, and Slash — and if you listen closely, you’ll probably can hear influences of all of them in my songs.
If you’ve listened to one of my tracks (or are listening right now), I hope you’re enjoying it — I sure enjoyed making it.
