SHE Spells Doom is inspired by 80s Sci-Fi/Horror movies, (Congolese) Rhumba/Soukous, Gqom, and early 2000s rap with techno and house as foundational elements. His music has found homes on labels like Creme Records, Monstart, Sweat Equity, HTS, All Centre, and iconic Berlin-based Tresor. His selections for Boiler Room and Crack Magazine also employ modern electronic music as a bedrock while he weaves in his characteristic style. Lock in for a hazy and driving hour with tracks by Varum, Jensen Interceptor & Kris Baha, Bambounou & Bruce, Mucho Sueño, some original cuts, and more.

Pour la rentrée de Wreckers ov Civilisation je vous propose une percée à travers la très fournie discographie de Nurse With Wound. Projet de musique expérimentale britannique, formé en 1978 par Steven Stapleton, John Fothergill et Heman Pathak. En 1981, Stapleton devient le seul membre permanent de NWW avec une multitude de collaboration au fil des années (la liste est longue) avec notamment Andrew Liles, Colin Potter, James Mannox. À l'écoute des formes multiples du projet, on évitera les étiquettes musicales, notons quand même l'influence évidente du mouvement Surréaliste et de Dada. Une heure de collage avec beaucoup d'édits, car il s'agit souvent de pièces sonores longues qui sont ici agencées en extraits pour la plupart.

this edition of The Bunker Podcast comes from San Francisco's DJ CZ (@c_z-1), aka Chris Zaldua. There he puts on @surfacetension-sf events and runs the @lefthandpathwax imprint with @niharb, who also turned in an edition of The Bunker Podcast earlier this year.

artist statement:
"This mix was crafted on two XDJ-1000s and an Allen & Heath mixer in one take. It's sort of a snapshot of where I'm at as a DJ these days, and contains a lot of music I'd play in the club and some I wouldn't. It's not techno, but it's not not-techno. It's not drum'n'bass, but it's not not-drum'n'bass, either. What really interests me is music that's slippery and difficult to define and exists in multiple spaces at once, and that's pretty much what I consider all of these tunes to be. Perhaps the best way to summarize it is in the immortal words of Uwe Schmidt aka Atom™ aka Fonosandwich:

They call it donut
But it doesn't have a hole."

when i started the mix with a sketch i was working on the last days i noticed a passage where a sound of a piano key beeing released sounded a bit like a voice. this sound reminded me of something. almost like i could here a voice speaking. i found this small piece by gill scott-heron, whose voice-sound is just so iconic it sticks with you, once you have heard it the first time. here he is reciting 'the revolution will not be televised...'. so eventhough i wouldn't have wanted to make a topical reflection on what happened and happens in america these days, the memory of his voice must have come to me through some sort of collective unconsciousness and i couldn't else but remember my first ever album my brother released on his lable tokyo trauma back in 2005 - the title was <<die wiederholung der geschichte der amerikanische heimatlosigkeit>> (the repetition of the history of the american homelessness)...
so on one hand the mix has this tension or struggle between immediacy, actuality and memory, america and europe if you want, on the other hand i just thought of a monday night walk in the city and mixed a bunch of archival sketches with some tracks i came to like. i hope you enjoy.
