Back with the sixteenth instalment of We Don’t Stop, We Won’t Stop on @radioalhara We Don’t Stop, We Won’t Stop celebrates the debut release from Berlin-based Syrian musician @khaledkurbeh on @researchrecords. Likulli Fadāin Eqāéh marks Khaled’s return after seven years, weaving four years of sonic explorations through his practice of muhawalāt [attempts, variations] and hawāmesh [margins] - gestures and footnotes from everyday life, a true masterpiece.

The first half features Khaled’s tapestry of sound, departing from his acoustic roots toward new experimental territories. The second half is curated by @maryossyawish, Chaldean Iraqi artist and founder of @researchrecords - whose lawless approach draws on heritage and abstraction through 15 years of sonic exploration.

Together they present a journey through margins and attempts, celebrating the release that bridges Syrian musical tradition with contemporary practice.

We're none too fond of terms like 'selector' here at the figurative 12th Isle HQ. We think it was a shrewd marketing ploy concocted by natural wine bar owners - and possibly the freemasons - who repackaged the spergy single-mindedness of record nerds into something that sounded much more socially agile and cool in order to distract punters from the exorbitant price of nibbles. Thankfully, the time of white label soundtracked £40 sashimi seems to be behind us, and DJing can go back to being obsessives playing odd music made by even odder folk without much in the way of pretence. Someone who encapsulates that kind of energy has very kindly put together a nearly 4 hour long sprawl and has stated that under no circumstances should this mix be enjoyed alongside thinly sliced bits of raw beef and wine with bits in it or there will be hell to pay. Every artist hits a point where polish starts to feel like a cage. In Constant Evolution is Madd Rod’s way of breaking out.

His third studio album follows Sad Behaviour (Discotexas, 2023), a record that marked his transition toward something rougher, freer, and more emotionally charged. This time, Madd Rod takes that instinct to its logical conclusion: imperfection and rawness not as failure, but as a way to keep it real.

Across thirteen tracks, In Constant Evolution drifts between EBM, Electro, Indie Dance, and Krautrock with unfiltered emotion. The warmth of analog gear, the hum of room noise, and the occasional slip of timing are all left in as part of the texture: a quiet protest against overproduction packaged as an album that sounds lived-in.

As founder of Inner Shah Recordings, Madd Rod isn’t chasing perfection. He’s documenting the process of becoming. In an industry that sells the illusion of resolution, In Constant Evolution is a reminder that the cracks are where the light gets in.
