Welcome to post-post-apocalyptic radio, we’re out the other side with some good momentum, and damn it feels good. Well, it just so happens that I have a mix that fits the mood perfectly, its from Eora specialist Patrin, an expert in audible emotional stabilisers. 

A theoretical therapist in his own right, Patrin is one of the heads behind a fellow ‘outside of the box’ mix series, Theory Therapy (huge tip!! // link below), which has been a personal favorite of mine and many others throughout the last year or so, especially for a much needed hit of inspiration through the recent bleakness. With their debut VA release that recently dropped, and the consistency of their mix series, it’s easy to see that they won’t be slowing down any time soon and I cannot wait to see where they go. 

Patrin in his own right has a beautiful idea of what music is, and what it can do, and that’s exactly what comes through in this mix. I’ve been struggling to really put this mix into words as it's quite emotional on all fronts, the eerie subtleties and haunting soundscapes actually builds the intensity to almost breaking point. It’s so perfectly layered and thought-out that you’d think he made it specifically for you. Ambient done so damn right it hurts, a perfect soundtrack to watching clouds and taking some time out for yourself, the importance of which is going to be unparalleled over the coming few months. This mix is pure relief, make sure you always keep it close by.

For the final chime of the year, Japan's @abentis comes through with a humming hour or so of gentle tracks, forging space for stillness, reflection and mental expansion. 

abentis recorded this mix during the hottest part of the year in Japan, choosing music that pairs with their favourite summer evening drives and walks. With summer's sun-stunned idleness upon us in the southern hemisphere, should you find time for a moment of stillness, this mixtape is perfect. 

There's an intimacy and closeness imbued in this mix, which unfolds throughout. Distinct moments feel like a whisper in your ear - some gossip just for you, or an affirmation from a loved one. It's sensitive and caring. At times flowing fast and loose, sprightly and vivacious, it still pools and swells, cooling. 

As a producer, abentis has released on a number of VAs, including Wisdom Teeth, PAL.Sounds, Tokyo Community Radio and more recently for naru records in support of Palestine. Their productions straddle bass, ambient, dub and experimental flavours, with a knack for organic arrangement and beautifully textured percussion.
