Sorang, the debut album of Yalta native Wulffius (@wulffius), represents his work over the last eight years. The playful creature on the cover, Stone Eater, is based on childhood sketches of the producer's father. The album's name alludes to the first collection of his father's poems, which took its name from a short story by Konstantin Paustovsky, a master of nature writing in Russian prose. Sorang is the name of the south wind that "blows once in centuries," and you can hear its unique warmth in these tracks. There is a sense of wholeness here, a palpable style and atmosphere that permeates the individual pieces.

Wulffius creates what he refers to as "B-sides": something too strange to be danceable, with "complex ease" and rhythmical variety. The music has a charming serenity and beauty thanks to Wulffius' intuitive approach, which is childlike and whimsical in the best possible sense. By the way, Paustovsky wrote Sorang in an hour and a half at a speed writing competition. You can hear a similar spontaneity here, but make no mistake, this is the work of a master that has been crafted over a period of years. It all comes from experience.

Забавный персонаж на обложке, Камнеед, основан на детских рисунках его отца, а слово «Sorang» дублирует название первого отцовского поэтического сборника. Впервые появилось оно в коротком рассказе Константина Паустовского. Соранг — это название жаркого южного ветра, который «дует один раз за многие сотни лет». Вы действительно можете почувствовать тепло от предложенных музыкальных композиций. Точно так же вы можете ощутить цельность альбома, его особый стиль и атмосферу, которая передается от трека к треку.

Wulffius создает музыку, которую сам называет «би-сайдами»: слишком странными в своей «сложной простоте» и ритмическом разнообразии, чтобы быть обычными танцевальными треками. Спокойствие и красота этих композиций очаровывают — в том числе благодаря интуитивному подходу Wulffius к музыке, по-хорошему непосредственному, детскому. К слову, Паустовский написал «Соранг» на конкурсе по письму как упражнение в скорости — и всего за полтора часа. Across the Universe for Palestine

Inspired by Angela Davis's essay "Are Prisons Obsolete?", this mix explores a recurring and equally stigmatised and controversial theme in South Italy's music landscape: the prison system and the suffering of detention. Davis advocates for a society without prisons, challenging traditional notions of crime and punishment. Starting from those notions, this radio show aims to dive into South Italian music culture and its historical perspectives on imprisonment, navigating through its contradictions and complexities, intertwined with the dramatic and systemic social inequalities of this side of the country: extremely high unemployment rates, low wages, informal economy, undocumented work, and the oppressive shadows of organised crimes. 

The mix features Neapolitan music such as Sceneggiata and Neomelodico, folk revival alongside political songs, the OST of the underground cult movie "Mery Per Sempre", and now-forgotten ethnographic recordings of jail chants passed down orally in Sicily and Puglia. While these songs all confront the theme of detention, they are seldom juxtaposed, as they are by artists and informal performers coming from very diverse historical periods and social class backgrounds. The show aims to resonate with Davis's vision of a fairer future where equality, safety, justice, and well-being of all can and must be fostered also through the abolition of prisons.

This interview with the former UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 addresses the important question of how to begin to think about international law and social movements. 

Michael speaks about the process in relation to the Israeli state and military takes place at the ICJ and ICC but underlines questions around how to think about the connection between popular movements pushing for justice globally and these recent unprecedented legal shifts would not be taking place as they are today.
