We aren't too proud to admit that ever since LA's Bianca Lexis agreed to make a mix for this website we've been checking our inbox with increased frequency in anticipation for any/all transmissions from Hollywood south. Maybe it went into the spam folder? No it isn't there...it never is. Oh there it is, it's arrived in the main folder while we were checking the spam folder. Right click, save as. Great download speeds today. Skip through quickly; this is good. After all these years of running a mix website (full-time) you can just tell right away. Transfer mp3 to USB stick and walk to the listening room. Plug in to media player and grab remote control from next to the fish tank. Should I see if Claudio is awake yet? Sit down in The Chair, hit play and prepare to be Maxelled. I won't tell you what happens next except to say that from the first rompler organ sequence to the last rompler organ sequence this mix simply does not relent or repent. Thanks for the mix Bianca!

Afro-Peruvian music portrays a memory of the experiences of African communities that arrived in Peru during the colonial era. The blend of musical traditions (Spanish and indigenous) resulted in new dance styles such as landó, festejo, and hatajo, always supported by a percussion base, where the use of the cajón, quijada, or zapateo stands out. 

Over time, it incorporated instruments and rhythms from the Afro-Cuban tradition. Afro-Peruvian music has had many prominent artists, and its influence can be seen in other musical genres (jazz, rock, or electronic music). This selection showcases the musical richness of its rhythms.
