Our Theory Therapy show-turned-label was back on Skylab with Patrin and I at the helm for the first time in a while. The mix features music from and inspired by our imprint’s debut compilation Out of Season, which came out August 6th. It consists of an even larger amount of field recordings than usual, all taken from specific places, some recorded by myself in Sydney but several from different locations including Japan, Belgium, Latvia and Chile. I’ve always personally been drawn to the kind of music that feels tied to a specific location or environment as opposed to some abstract imagined place. It’s something I feel the tracks on the compilation all capture beautifully and I wanted the mix to feel similar. Hopefully some of that translates. Because of the lockdown in Sydney preventing us from recording together, it's me for the first 60 and Patrin taking the reins for the final hour. Thanks for listening. We hope you enjoy.

Take a Trip with Tarotplane

"Exploration trip; after crossing the wormhole, I head towards the epicenter of the radio waves I captured. Futuristic melodies change to earthy and organic ones. An immense satellite orbits that wonderful blue sphere. I look at it holistically, in the background that tribal sound sucks me inside. Textures, different landscapes but forming a whole. I can’t intervene anymore, they would discover me and it’s not time yet. With melancholy jazz I have to come back, crying but smiling at the same time."

Slowfoam (@slowfoam) is the sound and DJ moniker of Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist Madelyn Byrd. Their work stems from a curiosity about subconscious realms, the slippery nature of perception, post~capitalist musings, and joy in the mundane. She's currently working on an installation in collaboration with AI, curating a monthly radio show called 'our tomorrow' on Internet Public Radio, and working *slowly* on a couple of albums. Madelyn is also a founding member of the dream~tank and art collective, MOLD, which will be presenting Magdalena Jadwiga Härtelova's 'How Do You Talk Across Distance When All You Have is a Flying Goose' at Cross Attic in Prague on October 30th.
