7Tones is a Delhi based band which was formed in january 2010.We All are from the same school except one who joined us later. Since then,we performed in various shows and college fests with our selfcompositions.We do experiments which can very well be heard in our songs.Through our music, we connect with the mass so enthralling all is our main objective. The previous band of Kamal was going good but things started changing as the other members sought different likes in music changing their inclination towards heavy metal and keeping the band only for festive purpose. Thus the vocalist was secluded and what he wanted to do was not happening but the zeal was still alive which needed to be rekindled. As days were passing, the passion for music was making him numb but luckily he met Probin one of his school mate who was then playing guitar. His inviting me to his house resulted in forming some self compositions which till now had ignited the flame within to form another band. Then came Utpal another school friend who also wanted to give his best towards the new Initiative. Indeed,both Utpal and Probin penned down a wonderful song "Ankhon Mein Ban Gayi" which is still afresh in our mind. Utpal's journey couldn't last long as he had other priorities in life. The hunt for a drummer was on when one fine day Probin landed with a so called Drummerist at my house introducing him as Prabh Nair another junior fellow of our school who pressed that he would certainly meet our expectation. Though an amature then, he was given a chance to join us but the problem was he didn't have a drum set. That too was taken care off when the newly bought Indian drumkit was stationed at the vocalist's house and jamming started. By chance I met Premanjan Bhattacharya another school pal who was a guitarist then,while going to office. The next thing was that I asked him to come the next sunday as some of us had already started jamming. One fine sunday after jamming, Probin told me that he met a fellow named Rajiv who is a guitarist, “Theoretically Sound” and we should once try his capability. Jamming together was going good but we still were missing something i.e a Bass Guitarist. During these incidences my classmate Iqbal hussain started attending the practise sessions and showed his inclination towards playing the Bass Guitar, which finally got fulfilled as we persuaded him to buy one. During that time, the band was going through financial crisis as we didn’t have proper equipments for which some of the band members contributed for buying some equipments.

Now the thought of naming the entire Initiative was of prime concern, and it came from the mind of Iqbal Hussain. Thus the band was christined with the name 7Tones. The name means the unity among all the band members as all the notes of music are incomplete without each of them. If talked in hindi it can also be called "SAATH SUR". As the band was newly formed, we didn’t have any knowledge what genre to concentrate upon but then we thought of keeping “Hindi Rock” as the topic to play.

August was round the corner and our jamming sessions were in it's peak on the rented attic whose expences we all agreed to share. Practising on the roof was going good and our confidence level reached new heights when a promotional photo shoot was done by one of Iqbal's friend. Now the band consists of S.Kamal,Probin,Prabh Nair,Premanjan,Rajiv and Iqbal hussain. With this line up we video recorded two covers and one self composition but still the crave for getting shows was eating us within. Time flew by and the festive season was near and luckily we bagged a couple of shows in Durga Puja in Sep 2009.We started on a good note and plastered our confidence level by also performing in Christmas Carnival followed by performance in New Year’s Eve on 31st Dec 2009 in Indore. However, the new year didn’t start with a happy note as differences cropped up among the band members and the productivity of the band decreased. Premanjan left the band due to his personal problems and Rajiv was asked to leave as it was a joint decision taken by all of us. So now we were 4 members left in the band and the hunt for a lead guitarist was revived again.

Through Orkut, we came in contact with Abhishek Bhandari a college going lad who just started strumming the guitar then. He was being called by us and his potential was knocked. Though an amature, his mingling nature was liked by all of us and he started attending our jam sessions. In july 2010 we got a chance to perform in a charity show for an N.G.O where the band members regained their confidence and started everything altogether. But something else was written in the destiny of 7Tones.Probin started keeping himself more involved in his father’s business due to which his interest was becoming less towards the band. At the end Probin parted from us after giving his best in Durga Puja 2010 and finally four of us were there to take the journey of 7Tones ahead.

---------- A New Era Started ---------

Now it was a mammoth task ahead how we should had continued the journey as already many members chose their different ways. We strategically planned, worked upon weeks and decided what should be our next step and how often we should jam. After few months everybody started jamming at kamal’s house where practicing upon our Self Compositions and taking input’s from each other was our prime concern. During this time kamal’s neighbour invited trouble for us by calling the police. It was an harrowing experience then but we managed somehow. Our jamming still continued with full vigor and we were lucky enough to bag a show on the New Year’s eve of 2010 in Meerut. It was one of the highest paid shows. We never looked back after that and kept on performing in various battle of bands and even won many accolades. It’s been almost 9 to 10 months of our continuous efforts for which we are getting the fruitful results.

We are moving ahead keeping in mind the genres like Rock / Sufi / Fusion and it could very well be heard in our own Self Compositions.Soon we would be coming with our first single “Pari” of our yet to be released album.

ABBA: The Movie is a 1977 film about the pop group ABBA's Australian tour. It was directed by Lasse Hallström, who directed most of the group's videos. The film has become a cult film among ABBA fans. Its release coincided with the release of ABBA: The Album, the group's fifth studio album, and features many songs from that album as well as many of their earlier hits, and one, "Get on the Carousel", unavailable anywhere else.

The film has a very thin plot which is no more than a vehicle to link together the concert footage. It concerns the adventures of Ashley Wallace (Robert Hughes), a naïve DJ on Radio 2TW, who normally presents a through-the-night country and western-themed show. In spite of this, he is sent by the station's boss (Bruce Barry) to get an in-depth interview ("Not an interview, a dialogue", demands his boss) with the group, whose fame and stature neither he nor Ashley have the first clue about, which is to be aired on the day ABBA leave Australia. Needless to say, Ashley, who has never done an interview before, singularly fails, mainly because he has forgotten to pack his press card, although the fact that he is unable to buy a ticket doesn't help matters either. Armed with his trusty reel-to-reel tape recorder, Ashley is forced to follow the group all over Australia, beginning in Sydney, and then travelling, in order, to Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne, experiencing repeated run-ins with the group's very protective bodyguard (Tom Oliver), as well as his increasingly exasperated boss. Throughout the movie, we see Ashley interviewing members of the public, asking them if and why they like ABBA- most comments are positive.

Eventually, Ashley has an unbelievably lucky chance encounter with Stig Anderson, the group's manager, who agrees to arrange an interview, and gives him tickets to that evening's concert. But Ashley sleeps in and misses the appointed interview time. Just as Ashley is about to give up (by this time, he doesn't even care that his press card—has finally arrived!), he steps into an elevator and finds himself face-to-face with ABBA. They agree to give him an interview, and he leaves Melbourne just in time to meet the deadline for the radio show to go out on-air. He puts together the final edit in the back of a taxi on the way back from the airport, as ABBA depart Australia for Europe. With only minutes to go, Ashley makes it back to the radio station where, having set the tape up on the studio's playback machine, he relaxes at his control desk to listen as the interview—which he worked so long and hard to obtain—is broadcast over the airwaves Down Under.

Hallström indicated that the film's script and plot concept was "conceived on the plane on the way to Australia". Initially, 16 mm film was to be used but producers upgraded the project to 35 mm Panavision technology.

Mostly filmed in Australia some additional scenes were filmed in ABBA's native Sweden (but still set in Australia) - noticeably different from Australia are the street signs and the traffic flowing on the right-hand side
 
ABBA: The Movie was first released in December 1977. The film was also presented in several Eastern Bloc nations, including the Soviet Union where it was screened at two movie houses in Moscow. Margaret Geddes of Australian newspaper The Age concluded that the film was "slick, competent and even for the non-convert entertaining

To date four releases of the film have been made: a single-disc DVD, a two-disc special edition DVD, a single disc Blu-ray, and a now defunct single-disc HD DVD. All releases above feature a restored print with bonus material. The initial DVD, including digital restoration, was released by SBS in Australia on 2 October 2005

A theatrical re-release of the film occurred across Europe during July and August 2008 in the UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Germany, and Austria

    The introductory bars of "Hole in Your Soul" are heard to accompany the opening credits, but the song itself does not feature anywhere in the film.
    A brief snatch of "Knowing Me, Knowing You" as well as "Dum Dum Diddle" is also heard while Ashley is stuck in a traffic jam; they are presumably coming from the radio of another car.
    "Ring Ring" is not performed by ABBA themselves in the film, but is sung by the members of a girls' ballet class Ashley speaks to for the interview while they are practicing their routines (ABBA's version can be heard in the background, which the children are singing along to).
    Other tracks heard in the film are "Johan på Snippen" and "Polkan går", both Swedish traditional songs being played by Benny Andersson on harmonica, and "Stoned" (instrumental).
    The country and western track that is heard playing when we see Ashley in the radio studio at the start of the film is an early 1970s Björn & Benny song, "Please Change Your Mind", performed by Nashville Train. This song was also recorded by this Swedish country band (several of the musicians are from ABBAs own studio band) and released on their 'ABBA Our Way' in 1977.



Jodie Harsh, the London icon in hot-pink lipstick is without a doubt the most striking DJ to hit the Capital this Millennium, and is undoubtedly the reining Queen supreme over international nightlife.

Circus, Harsh’s Friday club night, has become legendary, with former guest DJ’s including Ladyhawke, Kissy Sellout, Roisin Murphy, Friendly Fires, Amy Winehouse and Peaches. Jodie currated the aftershow party for the Peaches concert at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the Ether Festival and throws sporadic pool parties on the roof of Shoreditch House with performance artist friend Jonny Woo.

Over the past few years Harsh has become established as a prominent guest DJ who has been found spinning records at Fashion Week parties, showbiz bashes and clubs around the UK, America and Europe. Jodie’s house and electro sets have taken the DJ to New York, Milan, Russia and Ibiza, and she is now a resident DJ for Manumission, after embarking on a world tour with them this summer. She has played with The Swedish House Mafia at Pacha (Ibiza), on the Dance West stage at Glastonbury, and is now a resident at the UK Gatecrasher clubs. Even Pete Tong has championed Harsh and commissioned a mini-mix for his In New Music We Trust show on Radio 1. Other recent DJ appearances of note include events for Swarovski Fashion Rocks, the Q awards, MTV, Diesel, Oliver People, Urban Junkies, Absolute, Sony, Roxy, Julian Macdonald, Basso and Brooke, Converse as well as supporting Robyn on the London leg of her world tour.

In Februray 2003, Usef moved to Egypt searching for a new experience. DJing by the Red sea is just an amazing journey Usef says. The “multicolored” clubbers coming from all over the world just to enjoy this country were an astonishing experience, traveling across Egypt from Sharm el Sheikh to Hurghada passing by Cairo, and then dropping by the Mediterranean coast is just marvelous, different people and different nationalities gather under one roof, leaving all their differences behind and just dancing and enjoying Usef’s stomping beats.
 
As life is full of new experiences, Usef decided to take his career to the next level, and Milan is the next new destination. Starting in 2007, for a new taste and for a new experience… From DJing at some of the coolest and trendiest night spots all around Milan! I have always DJed the same way. I don’t jump around, and make a big show, and scream or whatever. Things like that are not my style. You have to be very concentrated, but also you have to be in the mood of the people, that is very important. Being relaxed is good, and it means you can play a little more abstract stuff in-between the stuff that people are more likely to be expecting. Everyone has a style and mine has always been like this.

The Romeros represent all the best elements of rock and roll. Punk that’s not stupid, pop that’s not saccharine, rock that’s not boring and real country twang. All these elements come together in songs that are short and sweet with hooks around every corner. The Romeros might remind you of a great 45 single that you found digging in your mom’s record collection or a band your older sister played on her college radio show in 1984, sometimes during the same chorus. The tunes are by no means dated, they are more so timeless with lyrics that sing of heartache, lust, late night telephone calls and love gone wrong. What more could you want from power pop?

Warning: this EP may actually be cooler than your boyfriend. Or girlfriend. Or friend. In fact, it’s pretty darn cool, full stop. I have discovered a host of cool new bands lately, most of which released a really good, solid debut. None have been on this level of greatness though. Think I’m exaggerating? Hear the rock ‘n’ roll whirlwind that is The Romeros debut ep ‘Cooler than your boyfriend’ and then try saying that. This really represents something different going on in the current hotbed that is the US pop punk scene.

The Romeros hail from Chicago (a famous pop-punk band also originates from there, but I can’t quite remember the name...I think it may have had otter in it somewhere...), blasting out their own awesome take on the power pop genre. Their sound harks back to the late ‘70s, when good time pop-rock songs like those heard here dominated radio playlists. The initial temptation is to cite The Ramones as their primary influence but it would be a huge disservice to The Romeros to simply cast them off as another “Ramonescore” band. Instead, they are reminiscent of all the power pop greats of the past- Cheap Trick, The Boys, The Undertones et al.

Irony. That’s what they will label this as an attempt at- but this couldn’t be further from the truth. They bring simple yet effective pop ditties that last for generations to come. They are NOT simply rehashing an old genre, as is oft the case these days- they totally re-invent an old sound for a new generation. What’s not to love?

‘Tonight’ kicks off this 5-track EP with aplomb. It is just about the best song here- the hooks and melody here just seems endless, and THAT chorus is a killer. It is a song destined for stadiums. I can picture thousands of fans screaming along to “Hey watcha doing tonight?/ I really wanna see you tonight/ Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight!” with ease. The Romeros are no one trick ponies though. All five songs represent powerpop and pop-punk in completely different ways, something very pleasing to see in these genres often criticised for their rigidity.

The last song ‘Love Notes’ proves this more than anything else- a 2 minute love-torn folk ditty, in which the protagonist labels himself as Eric Carmen. A song which is hilarious and heart-breaking simultaneously. ‘Big in Japan’ is the other key highlight here- a tale of pop-punk musicians being rejected by American culture and subsequently favoured by the Japanese, and is done wonderfully both musically and lyrically. The music is in fact good enough for the lyrics not to make any sense at all, and the songs would still be brilliant. As it is, the lyrics are fantastically written and fit very well around the music- “Looks like I got more than I bargained for/ Passed out together on a bathroom floor”.

This band need to be heard so the ‘Big in Japan’ scenario doesn’t develop- they are the latest in an ever-growing line of pop-punk bands that defy reason as to why they are small and “other” pop-punk bands remain big with nowhere near the same level of quality. Admittedly though, The Romeros have only just begun- this being their debut EP- and I absolutely cannot wait to see where they progress to next and what a Romeros LP sounds like. For me, this is a pretty much perfect EP- I wouldn’t change a thing about it- and right now I consider The Romeros to be one of the most exciting new bands on the planet."

Chicago's Romeros remind me a great deal of one of my favorite bands from the late '90s and early '00s - Pat Dull & his Media Whores. They're the kind of power pop band that probably rocks your socks off live. I imagine them playing so loud that their amps blow, jumping up and down like hyperactive kids, swigging whiskey shots mid-song, bangin' hot chicks in the bathroom stalls after the set, and storming back to encore with a cover of "Surrender" (or better yet, "He's a Whore"). Welcome to the rockin' side of power pop, ladies and gentlemen.

What I like about this EP is that it plays up the kind of band that The Romeros are. There's no info in the packaging on the specifics of the recording, but it sounds to me like this thing was done live in the studio. I don't hear any obvious overdubs, and it sounds loose and raw enough to pass for a soundboard tape from a live gig. A lot of power pop bands kick ass live, but then you hear the record and they sound all wussy. But here, you get the true flavor of The Romeros. The down side of that is that there are no smooth harmonies, note perfect guitar leads, or other popular frills that one usually looks for in a power pop recording. But I'll take that trade-off in this case. If this were the "Oh, my heart is so broken" brand of power pop, maybe the production wouldn't work for me. But this is the "Yeah! Let's have a good time tonight!" brand of power pop. This is fun, high-energy music that's meant to rock. And the melodies and harmonies are still there - they just aren't dressed up in shimmering studio slickery. Singer Mike Vanderbilt has got a nasally, "rock n' roll" kind of voice that threw me for a loop at first but quickly grew on me.

Apt for a band that plays the middle ground between Cheap Trick and Material Issue, love songs take center stage on this EP. Vanderbilt is clearly in his element writing songs about ex-girlfriends (either real or fictitious - that's his secret!). One is now a lesbian; another is about to get married. If he has his way, he'll be hooking up with the latter tonight. And "Big In Japan", about a power pop band that struggles in the States but finds fame and adoration halfway across the world, is an absolute blast. If there's a prevailing motif here, it's that The Romeros are an "up" kind of band. They want the audience to dance, have fun, and get laid at the end of the night. These songs are teeming with good humor and gargantuan hooks. Hell, they even do a country song! And being a proud bald man, it pleases me that there's one of my kind in this band. Count me in as the newest convert to Romeros fandom!

Power pop is alive and well on the Chicago's south side. Drinking and dancing have been mainstays of that area for years, partly due to its largely Irish contingent, but also thanks to the likes of Chicago area bands like Cheap Trick and Naked Raygun. The Romeros pick up the torch and spit cheap whiskey all over it, with their hoppy punk tunes that incorporate both rock and rolling all night as well as partying every day.

The Romeros would probably cite bands like the Replacements, the Cars and the Old 97s as their heroes, and its obvious when you listen to their songs. Songs like "Tonight" sound like demos begging to be produced by the likes of Ric Ocasek, while "Big In Japan" is as much a nod to Cheap Trick's Live At Budokan as it is a daydream of the rock star life.

Live the Romeros are at the top of their game. They beg you to get up and be part of the party. Bands like this don't come around much anymore, the kind of old school attitude that doesn't believe in irony, even though the other bands on the bill are probably singing songs about Sega Genesis and Chuck Norris.Yeah, thats funy, sort of, but does it ROCK? I didn't think so.

The Romeros are a classic rock n' roll band, that models itself after The Flaming Groovies and The Ramones. The sonic assault is catchy, especially on "Tonight" with scratchy vocals by Mike Vanderbilt. They have played at IPO Chicago last year and made a really good impression. These guys have a good start, but need some polishing before they really hit it big. Get the EP "Cooler than your Boyfriend" and crank it up at your next backyard party.

What a great discovery. On their absolutely scorching new ep Cooler Than Your Boyfriend, Chicago power popsters the Romeros blast in with a BIG anthemic sound, an absolutely relentless twin guitar attack. They love Big Catchy Hooks. Cheap Trick is the obvious comparison, but without that band’s frequently cloying, dweeby vibe. They also evoke Stiff Little Fingers at their cheeriest and catchiest. Thirty years ago, they would have had a slew of AM radio hits – and that’s a compliment. The Romeros understand that hit songs are simple and catchy: after all, you don’t walk around all day with a Joe Lovano solo running through your head. The album kicks off with Tonight, almost like a slower oi-punk song with a pop feel, like something you would have heard at CBs circa 1980. It’s simple and catchy, maybe echoing what you’d hear on the Saints’ first album, with a simple but effective guitar solo then back into the crunchy chorus with tasteful lead licks on the way out. Wow!

Big in Japan isn’t a cover of the Alphaville hit: it’s another anthem with a sardonic lyric about a band not being able to make it big where their obvious audience is. It sounds like it’s a big crowd-pleaser. Love Notes is fast over a bed of acoustic and electric guitars: it sounds live, maybe better that what they’d be able to do with it in the studio since they completely cut loose with the vocals.

Chicago has long been known for killer party bands and these guys are as good as they get. These guys offer a really cool deal: not only can you get the ep, you also get the "gift pack" which includes a Romeros t-shirt PLUS another bonus disc of live tracks, bootlegs, acoustic demos, basement tapes and rarites along with pins, stickers and a poster for your bedroom door for the obscenely low price of $7! If that’s not fan-friendly, nothing is. What a great way to get to know a totally kick-ass band. CDs are available online and at shows.

Catherine Owens, who may be better known by her DJ name Hericane, has been in love with Electro house music since she stumbled upon the Saint John NB’s after hours music scene back in 2006.  After hearing the music and feeling the vibe, she knew that this music would become an important part of her life, she just never expected how much it would shape who she was in the next few years to follow.  Being friends with many of the local up and comers back in the day, Hericane was learning how to play on Technics 1200. and starting to rack up a very respectable vinyl collection.  This was when friends and local DJs were starting to take notice that Catherine had some real talent behind the decks.
Over the years Hericane has DJ’d many shows across New Brunswick some note worthy ones are Artificial Nights, 4 Girls 1 Club, had a residency at Pump Night Club, and most recently the 2013 festival of the summer Future Forest Festival.  
Inspired by the sound of Green Velvet, Stupid Fresh and Sean Taylor, Catherine plays a vocal electro house infused with fidget that is a crowd pleaser. Her tracks selection is meticulous and includes a variety of styles that all tie back to her signature sound.
In addition Catherine has partnered with Amanda Burgess, aka Miss Ellaneous under the joint company Vel.os.city Productions. Together they have been expanding their portfolio and providing DJ services for parties and corporate events. Most recently Catherine has been involved in a side project called ThaGirlz, which is a duo act with Miss Ellaneous.  Together they balance the fidget electro with some hip hop inspired house that is sure to please any of the dancers out there.

The Whisky Rebellion was formed in 2008, and, for 5 years, has torn up the U.S hard Rock and metal scenes. That morning,  I remember I saw her 
Step from the bus into water 
She laughed and I knew I'd fallen
