Powerfully primed for the bass-favoring ranks of electronic music, South Central has proven to be one of the genre’s most unconventional kingpins. A live dance outfit driven to spit in the face of 21st century dance music’s comfort zones, their tremendous sound has mustered incredible landmarks across the globe. Now taking the industry by storm on their own unique terms, these Brighton, UK-based trailblazers really are the unapologetic face of eclectic bass culture that modern dance music has been praying for. 

Emerging with the ability to unite versatile productions and a stubborn track record for live dance redemption, their collaborative efforts have benefitted from a double-edged approach to dance floor dominance. Drawing influences as broad as metal, house and classical music, that fusion of big band energy and coherent dance values remains untouchable. Forget the cookie cutter ranks of dub step and its various offshoots – when South Central strike up, their impact is always felt. 
Armed with three genre-defiant EPs for Dim Mak and successive offerings for Ultra and Big Fish Recordings, their ability to bring new noise to prolific imprints has had the bass-savvy masses gasping for air from day one. Treating their productions as a relentless yet intimate science that opts for innovation over repetition, their middle-finger stance has earned them some serious industry credentials along the way. With a nod of approval as dignified as The Prodigy behind them, this antidote to electronic dance saturation looks to be turning all the right heads.  

Such a versatile sound was always going to wreck havoc on the club floor. Connecting crowds with a focus on upfront energy over meaningless pyrotechnics, South Central remains the center of every one of their adrenaline-fuelled performances. Count tour duties alongside The Prodigy, pendulum, DJ Fresh and Jaguar Skills, plus supporting slots for the likes of Rage Against The Machine and Vitalic and their live capability remains a vital modern dance crossbreed to the industry’s ever-expanding floodgates.

These remorseless antics are showing no signs of slowing on the approach to 2014. Between a remix package for their infamous Hollywood EP, a welcome return to Dim Mak with the Run Hide Survive EP and a peak in attention towards their own Mad Music imprint, the next twelve months look to remain as loud, proud and provocative as we have come to expect from this cutting edge duo set to defile dance music’s safe zones beyond repair. 

The State of The Art Tour is the culmination of 6 independently driven movements joining forces to bring a great show to fans of great music as well as spread unity, awareness and opportunity throughout the scene back home. The mission is to establish each artist on a national level to where they can continue their indie efforts on their own brands strength. A merit they will earn on day by day The State Of The Art Tour.

In the heart of their somewhat sketchy town, nestled amidst cracked sidewalks and flickering streetlights, two young cousins and a stepbrother embarked on a wild journey that would eventually lead them to an enduring future. Martian, Observe, and Lord Savage were inseparable from a young age despite their different backgrounds and circumstances.

Martian, the visionary of the trio, was always the dreamer. He saw potential in the chaos of their town and believed there was a way to escape its clutches. His imagination knew no bounds, and he had a knack for turning everyday shenanigans that resonated with their peers.

Observe, though short in stature, possessed an uncanny lyrical ability. His stories were questionable, weaving tales of their tumultuous upbringing into buzz around town. He observed and translated life's intricacies into the group's unique narrative.

Lord Savage, their stepbrother, brought flare to the group. Despite his honesty and upfront nature, he had a knack for getting into situations that left him stinky, whether it was a misadventure in the town's sewers or some other bizarre incident. His presence was hard to ignore, and he gave the group an air of unpredictability.

Together, they formed HDMG, and their group resonated with the youth of their town. 

As the group expanded, new members like Lew Kane, known for his impeccable storytelling and towering stature, joined the ranks. 

Kingstrr and Bossielok became the life of the party, adding local flavor to their performances. HDMG's reputation soared, with talks of their outings and mishaps fueled into becoming known in town.
However, not all was smooth sailing. Lord Savage, perhaps feeling the weight of his enigmatic past, split off to create his own group, MariaMilita. While other groups started emerging, the town's narrative scene became increasingly competitive.

Amidst the chaos, HDMG saw uncertainty in the future. Harambe's tragic passing cast a shadow over the world, and China stumbling upon a dragon's skull in the woods, adding an eerie mystique around the globe. Meanwhile, Japan's development of mech suits signaled a world evolving faster than they could imagine.
But the group soldiered on. They welcomed an enchanting singer, Rose, adding a new dimension to their narratives. Once known for his hoeish lifestyle, Myron eventually turned his life around, becoming a loyal member of HDMG.

With their ranks swelling and their stories resonating more powerfully than ever, HDMG continued to battle rival groups and searched for the truth behind Lord Savage's mysterious disappearance. Once a breeding ground for shenanigans, the town had transformed into the epicenter of a storytelling revolution. HDMG was at the forefront, determined to rise above the shadows of their sketchy past and uncover the truth buried beneath the world's surface.

September 2008, deep in the shadows of Amarillo’s Wolflin Neighborhood, an event was happening like no other in the Texas Panhandle. Electric Wolfe, 16 years old at the time, was in the midst of a surge of electronic dance music in “Yellow City”. Not at any full-fledged venue, whose clientele demanded Country, Western, and mainstream Rock, but in the half-empty back house of a suburban home. To EW, it was eye opening. “We were all outcasts, and suddenly- there was a community. I fell into this family, I found these people that were doing the same things- hosting shows, experimenting, playing with the form and the music.” It was there that Electric Wolf performed for the first time in front of people, and to him and the 70-some-others crowding the room, it clicked. 

After experimenting and performing in scenes around Austin, Colorado Springs, and Midland, EW moved through influences like Benny Benassi, Crystal Castles, and Steve Aoki learning from what was happening around him and synthesizing his own individual sound. Shows in Amarillo were getting larger and more popular - venues like the notoriously haunted Nat Ballroom, The Wreck Room, The 806, and the now shuttered live entertainment branch of 12052 Productions were hosting shows. Collaborative sets, with up to four DJs at a time, began experimenting with tonal parallels between musical keys and the Chakras of the human body. 

In 2012, after analyzing a new influence, Tonic, Electric Wolfe was inspired to learn his craft to a greater degree. Passing through the production process one step at a time; from recording to mixing and mastering his own material, EW has grown into a formidable one-man band in the Amarillo region.

For now, Electric Wolfe is interested in continuing to cultivate the local Amarillo scene, bringing back the playful variety that has long been lost to the mainstream. He continues to experiment with sounds and performances, keeping a constant eye on improving his own work and spreading his influence to more places than just locally.

Multimedia artist from São Paulo, she has been making sound journeys since 2005. Flying between organic and free rhythms, covering musical styles from Brazil and the world within downtempo (low bpm), focusing and valuing Latin American productions.  Currently based on the oceanic coast of Uruguay, she participates as a musical guide in healing rites.  She believes that music is an way to heal oneself.

As one of the longest standing independent record labels in the US, Nervous Records has built its reputation through a willingness to take chances on new sounds and new producers. Nervous was the first American label to sign and release tracks from such dance industry luminaries as Armand Van Helden, Paul Van Dyk and Nuyorican Soul. This spirit has enabled Nervous to build a catalogue of hits that spans the complete range of underground dance and hip hop genres.

The label was famous almost immediately when it started back in 1991 because of its eye-catching, very distinctive cartoon character logo. In addition the first three releases were produced by Roger S., Kenny Dope, and Todd Terry respectively, representing the three best house producers of that time. By 1992 Nervous was featured in magazines like Billboard, DJ Magazine (cover story), Mixmag, and ID, hailed by all as the “Sound of New York nitelife.”

Nervous’ first major dance release came in 1992, with “Feel Like Singing” by Sandy B. Nervous decided at that point to focus its energy on expanding the label’s musical field. The label’s first step outside the house music arena was with the Brooklyn, NY-based rap group, Black Moon, whose single “Who Got The Props” virtually put Brooklyn back on the map as a center of hip hop. At the same time, the label decided to alter the Nervous character for this release, giving it specific hip hop characteristics, and calling the hip hop label Wreck Records. Massive success followed with the Wreck imprint, as hits soon followed by Smif-N-Wessun, and Funkmaster Flex.

Nervous decided to continue to expand its musical boundries in 1993 by signing Mad Lion, which would be the first reggae artist on the Weeded imprint. Once again, there was huge success as Mad Lion’s single “Take It Easy” sold over 250,000 units.

Meanwhile, the Nervous merchandise continued to produce massive sales numbers as it established itself as one of the most favored t-shirts for the youth cultures of America, Japan, and many European countries.

In 1994, the label decided it was time to move into the electronic genre, and started an imprint called Sorted. The first artist on that label was Josh Wink, who went by the artist name Winx. While Winx’s debut release was a critical success although not a major seller, Winx’s follow-up release “Don’t Laugh” became the American dance community’s most talked about single, and ended up selling several hundred thousand units worlwide. Subsequently Nervous released Winx’s debut album, “Left Above The Clouds.” This album was one of the first “electronica” albums to be released, and lead to Josh Wink being signed to Sony as an artist. Nervous also released an album by two Long Island based dj’s, DJ Micro and Vicious Vic. The album, entitled “Progress Into Our Future,” since became a seminal album for the crew of Long Island dj’s that currently dominate clubs with their hard trance sound.

In 1996, Nervous virtually single-handedly created a garage house music revival by releasing the debut solo artist album by house music legend Byron Stingily. Byron was formerly the lead singer of gold-selling group Ten City. His second single on Nervous, “Get Up,” went to number one on dance charts around the world, including the Billboard Magazine club chart in America.. For his album, “The Purist,” Nervous assembled an all-star cast of legendary House producers, including Frankie Knuckles, Masters At Work, David Morales, Basement Boys, Maurice Joshua and MK.

As the musical trends continued to evolve in the late 90’s, Nervous continued to create new imprints to remain at the cutting edge of all independent labels. Nervous Dog was created to accommodate the emerging harder-edged house sound of New York; Strapped was the home for uptempo, club oriented hip hop Party tracks; and Nervous Chill released the down tempo, jazzy grooves that are always in vogue in the newest restaurants.

The label also has had many successful tours over the years. One of the biggest was in 2,000, when the Nervous tour was sponsored by Playboy Magazine and KAMEL cigarettes, and featured DJ’s Jackie Christie, Razor-n-Guido and DJ Escape, along With PA’s by Nervous artists Byron Stingily, Charlotte And Kim English. In addition, Nervous created what became one of the Winter Music Conference’s most original Parties, the Nervous After-hours breakfast at Denny’s, which featured an International list of dj’s entertaining conference attendees at 5:00 AM while they ate their grand slam Denny’s breakfast.

In 2000 and 2001, the energy tribal sound dominated the US club and Nervous gave America’s club-goers four of the its most dominant anthems, “Skin” by Charlotte, “Ssst…Listen” by Jonah, “Unspeakable Joy” by Kim English and Dive In The Pool by Barry Harris featuring Pepper Meshay. During this same time, the label has also created many successful compilation series, among them “Hip Hop Independent’s Day,” and “Future Progressive,” and “Club Nervous.

As the hits grew in number, so did the value of the catalogue for sampling purposes. Nervous songs have been sampled in major hits by Mariah Carey, New Edition, Coolio, Flip Squad, Basement Jax, George Michael, Soulsearcher and more..

In 2006 Nervous gave the US one of the biggest dance radio records with What A Feeling by Peter Luts & Dominico, a track which won the 2007 WMC award for Best Euro Dance track. In addition, Nervous delivered the most memorable US underground track of the year with Ralph Falcon – I Need Someone, which was also number one club record of 2007 according to Billboard Magazine.

In 2008 Nervous had two of the top five most played records of the year at dance radio, with Bellatrax feat. Sophia May/I Can’t Help Myself and Every Word by Ercola featuring Daniella, and ended the year as the two most played label at dance radio in the USA according to Billboard Magazine.

Nervous has also made a strong foray into the compilation market, building a roster with some of the most credible house music. The past twelve months has seen full length cd’s from Oscar G, Ralph Falcon, Funkagenda, Mark Brown, Behrouz, Chris Lake, Starkillers & Austin Leeds, DJ Theo, Exacta and Marlon D. Second half of 2009 will see releases from Danny Krivit, Frankie Knuckles, Tom Stephan, Peter Bailey and Richie Santana and Anane (produced by Louie Vega. 

In the grand tradition of Nervous launching sub-labels to embrace the next sounds to take over Nitelife ... In 2011 we launched Nurvous Records.  With the Indie Dance / Nu-Disco sound that has erupted from England and is now barreling towards full speed in America, one of our primary goals is to provide innovative homegrown style; and bringing back emotion to the music, squashing the over-commercialized big-room invasion.

Jay’s bio spans twenty-five plus years of DJing in dark rooms with bright lights.  Twenty or so of those years have been spent developing a hardened and very pale studio tan.  So it goes.

Jay’s early days were spent in his bedroom trying to paste together ‘pause tapes’ of new wave bands he heard on late night Toronto radio.  That would all change with the rise of house and techno music in the 1980s from the close-by cities of Detroit, Chicago and New York.

By all accounts Jay was a strange kid.  At the age of 13, Jay had already amassed a record collection envious of the most avid adult collector.  In 1987, he heard house music for the first time on the radio and it all changed.  Early acid house classics like A Guy Called Gerald’s ‘Voodoo Ray’ and LNR’s ‘Work It To The Bone’ laid down an addiction that has never been relinquished.

His early days were spent honing his skills on the job at the various events he helped throw in his native Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada area.  Dodgy raves held in loft and empty warehouse spaces, free parties down by the local river, house parties, club nights and even the odd cheesy top 40 nightclub or wedding gig helped shape his sound today.  As Jay became more involved with the thriving rave scene in his surrounding area, his love for the sounds of the underground grew.  In turn, this saw him rising up through the ranks from a local DJ to a DJ/producer with a more global outlook and reach.  

Being a DJ and producer are almost synonymous these days, but Jay's love for throbbing kick drums naturally lead to music production at a time when computers and the Internet were in their infancy.  

Jay’s tracks have been released on vinyl, CD's, mp3's and DVD/BluRay.  His tracks have been used as backing music for the movie ‘Rolling’ (2008), licenses to DJ mix compilations like UK-charting ‘Slinky Trans:Atlantik’ (2004), and even oddities like a Japanese soft-porn DVD.  His productions have had airings from many of the world's better-known DJ glitterati.  Signings and remixes for labels like Sonambulist Recordings (UK), Bellarine Recordings (Australia), L2 Music (Germany), Park Limited Muzik (Japan), Unrivaled Music (UK), Endemic Digital (UK), Stripped Digital (UK), Fullbodysoundsystem (Canada) and even his own Tortoise Shell Recordings (Canada) have helped attain recognition for Jay’s music production skills. 

His DJ mixes have aired as a featured artist all over the radio dial in places like Canada, Colombia, Germany, Panama, Northern Ireland, Russia, Peru, France, Argentina, Mexico, Australia, Aruba and as well as on various Internet radio stations and blogs.

That’s all old news though. After a lengthy hiatus from DJing, Jay Kaufman is back on the decks fusing DJing with live production.  His production has started back up as well and you should be able to find his music through all good digital download retailers like Beatport, iTunes, Amazon and many others with releases anticipated throughout the remainder of 2016 and into 2017.


There comes a time when clever hipster pop from Brooklyn doesn’t do the trick. Frantic Choruses sung by extremely happy people on top of a recorder solo will not fix your hangover. And a dreamy arpeggio played on an analogue synthesiser will not make you forget that your girlfriend left you for an idiot who is driving an electric car and lecturing about SoMe marketing. You miss the times when music grabbed you by the balls. When you were speeding on the highway with the stereo turned to 11 and got 5 guys crammed in the car wearing identical denim jackets and drinking warm cheap beer.

Blood on Wheels is the guys who never got tired of classic rock. During High School they gave the nerds wedgies, drove the noisiest cars and had the girls begging for a lift. When they had problems they went to a bar or plugged in the guitars and screamed it out. Some things never change. So you will not see the rugged memebers of this band writing a blog with fancy fonts and ads to dating websites.

Blood on wheels are releasing their second album during 2016. After playing dirty clubs during winter and big festivals during summer they finally got together for their anticipated follow up. Like the first album you can expect heavy riffs, screaming guitars and a snarly Frank Reppen on lead Vocals. These are not posing rock puddles pouting their way to stardom. These guys are all about honest rock and roll. Songs about the darkness of living in a small Norwegian town with unfaithful women, a bankrupt brewery and 20 identical burger joints who’s charging 14 dollars for a beer that tastes like dog piss with a hint of cranberries. They spend a few hours more on setting up the sound in studio before recording this one. And they wrote some excellent mid tempo breathers who’s making the Blood On Wheels universe even more diverse and exciting this time. But of course; it still smells of gasoline, cigarettes and alcohol.. This is the music that’s going to make your blood boil and speeding tickets pile up.
