This year, nearly 300 teams from all around the world participated in KCRW’s 5th Annual 24-hour Radio Race (August 19-20, 2017).

The Radio Race is a whirlwind day of high-stakes radio making for producers of any experience level. Participants have 24 HOURS to write, record, and edit a nonfiction radio story based on a top-secret theme announced at 10am that day.

Winners have the opportunity to be featured on KCRW’s “UnFictional,” but the Radio Race is more than a just a zany competition: it’s an opportunity to produce the most original, the most moving, the most inventive, the most unexpected piece of “instant radio” anyone will hear that year.

For this Russian-American duo, breaking the rules proved to be a winning strategy for five years and then some.
