Independent punk rockers, The Novocaines from Perth, Western Australia formed in 2006 and since then, the band has made a name for themselves worldwide with their ferociously energetic live performance.
 
The Novocaines spent most of 2012 writing and self-producing their next set of songs, which will be released over the course of 2013 with a mix of free downloads and vinyl releases.
 
The new singles ‘Til Death and Freedom Please launched in April are a current and relevant example of The Novocaines’ direction for 2013; short, fast, energetic punk rock that draws influence from their modern contemporaries like Fucked Up and Pulled Apart by Horses.
 
Both singles spread quickly across Australian radio, getting regular spins on JJJ and all of the major community radio stations. Since the release of Freedom Please, The Novocaines have been featured and reviewed in The Drum Media (NSW and WA), Beat Magazine (VIC), Mess+Noise and Off The Record.

The Novocaines are currently back in the studio working on follow up singles to Freedom Please and ‘Til Death, as well as planning national and international tours for the remainder of the year.

Before touring in Japan in 2012, the band toured in The USA including several showcases during SXSW ‘11. The band has also performed relentlessly in Australia with bands such as Them Crooked Vultures, The Living End, You Am I, Jebediah and DZ Deathrays as well as playing some of the major festivals including Big Day Out, Southbound and Playground Weekender.

Popular tracks like “Cup of Coffee” & “Adhere To” have received frequent radio play with the likes of JJJ as well as being featured in several films and television series including Scream 4, Californication and Shameless.

Dan BLAC is an explosive vocalist who hails from the city of Compton. Growing up in a city with hardcore streets plagued with drugs, crime, and gangs gave him a unique perspective on life. His lyrics mirror the experiences of such a dark environment, but not to be confused with the darkness reflected from his mahogany skin tones and the fullness of his voice. It’s a mix of husky and juicy vocal blends that make his smoky singing style one of its own. His musical influence was driven by his late grandmother who helped polish his skills and coach him on the proper mechanics of singing at the tender age of 5. Like many music legends, he began performing in church but couldn’t resist singing soulful blues that echoed his realities. By age 12, he recorded a song called, Blood is Thicker than Water, with two of his cousins, opening the window of fate and birthing a recording artist. He began crafting his skills and talents by working with various artists and performing at showcases in Southern California. He has since released songs like Speeding, Georgia Peach, and No Attachments. After a brief hiatus, his highly anticipated Entree EP
 will be released on Thanksgiving Day. The project will display his vocal acrobatics, unique writing style and is cleverly viewed as "a taste of Dan BLAC" as it will leave you hungry for more.

I learned sex was supposed to be pleasurable for me (and if it wasn't I should speak up), from Trina. I learned I could be smart and hood, from Eve. I learned nothing would be given to me, I’d have to take it, from Nicki Minaj. I learned to be proud of the city that raised me, from Foxy Brown. I learned that art was my way in, from Lauryn Hill. The women of hip-hop (female rappers) penned the soundtrack to my liberation, and I decided it was time for me to contribute my own freedom songs to the cannon. I created Tazzy Morebuck$ to help me do that. Tazzy Morebuck$’ first contribution to hip-hop, is a 6-track mixtape that defines Hoodrat Feminism. She covers some of the most classic hip-hop tracks with reckless rhymes that defy the rules. Not only is she a (female rapper), she’s a superhero, with the power to stand up straight in the “crooked room” Black women and girls are forced to live in. She's dear to my heart, she's queer to my heart, and she's here from my heart. If she's here for you, you'll love her as much as I do.
