It’s been a while since we released a V/A on Noir Music and I only ever compile them whenever I feel I have 5-6 tracks that stand out.

Dark Stars Volume 4 has been 6 months in the making and yes..... I know I am picky with the music I sign. I hear that on an almost daily basis.
But even though I could pick music from many different artists it still took me months of compiling, testing the music in clubs and at festivals and then putting together the tracks I felt stood out and complimented each other.

The great thing about V/A’s is that you get the chance to put together a release from artists with completely different sounds and ideas.
Although the sound of Dark Stars Volume 4 is quite minimal sounding overall, it still reflects musicality and great in-depth productions by skillful and experienced artists.
Another great thing about Volume 4 is that these are all artists who make their debut on Noir Music.

I truly love playing every single track from this release and I enjoy watching the crowds reactions around the globe.
I feel no need to get deeper into detail about the specific tracks, as the music will speak for itself.

Two contrasting remixes of ‘Space Date’ come courtesy of Pleasurekraft and John Monkman, as the three-way collaboration between Adam Beyer, Layton Giordani and Green Velvet continues to thrill. Joining the strong reworks is an unexpected treat for fans; a last-minute inclusion of a fresh new original track from the trio.

Drumcode got its first taste of Pleasurekraft’s unique production touch in 2016 when ‘Dopefield’ dropped on ‘A-Sides Vol.5’. The Swedish/American duo’s exploration of cosmic techno realms made them the ideal candidates to re-work ‘Space Date’. Their contribution is as visceral as they come; defined by a hypnotic vocal arrangement, a stirring call and response melody and propulsive galloping beats fashioned for peak-time moments. No surprise it was a highlight of Adam Beyer’s Ultra Resistance sets and gobsmacked Maceo Plex who requested a promo to play at Time Warp a week later.

Meanwhile Drumcode debutant John Monkman steps up with a very different, but not less deadly reinterpretation of ‘Space Date’. The Brit has impressed in recent times with strong releases on Ellum, Kompakt and his own Beesemyer imprint, and takes this form into DC207. His is a twisted intergalactic re-rub drenched in warped electro, blistering modular sounds and touches of IDM that manages the difficult task of taking the original to darker, more leftfield realms without ever losing its powerful dancefloor pulse. 

A new collaborative work ‘Data Point’ joins the pack, only completed by the trio of Beyer, Giordani and Green Velvet in late May in time for the Drumcode boss to drop it at IMS Dalt Villa during the sunset slot with Ida Engberg.

“Make Myself Bleed” is the 2nd EP to be released in mid of January 2021 on the Berlin Techno Label INHERIT. 

After dropping our IHT 001 back in September 2020 we were overwhelmed by the outstanding feedback we received from all of you! This exciting journey goes on with IHT 002 “Make myself bleed” - a four-track release by Disguised DJ, co-founders of INHERIT with remixes by Blicz and Daniel Heinrich. 

Transforming the new and tough reality everyone had to face for the past year both original tracks “Interruption” & “Make myself bleed” by Disguised DJ want to bring back the feeling of what we missed the most throughout this year - leaving all the bad behind us and getting lost in our dark technosphere. 

An oscillation of speedy disruptive baselines combined with high pitched trance synthesisers is the dynamic guideline for IHT 002. The young Parisian  talent Blicz adds with his Remix of “Interruption” the driving and dynamic “cream of the crop” to IHT 002. Incorporating his trademark style into the core synthesisers makes Blicz interpretation a vibrant atmospheric long-runner and won't be dismissed on any dance floor. 

Daniel Heinrichs Remix of “Make myself bleed” completes IHT 002 with another iridescent layer. As co-founder of INHERIT his forward thinking interpretation of “Make myself bleed” continues his legacy from IHT 001 and stands out with a unique disruptive baseline and dark trance synthesisers.
