On a trip to Togakushi in Nagano Prefecture, I came across a blue-and-white-flycatcher and his beautiful call on a winding road with beautiful landscape. I felt as if I was going to be able to fly as I gazed at the snow-covered Central Alps in the distance, peeking out from their winding curves from time to time. It was a breathtaking!

Sound artist Shinji Wakasa and artist Shingo Okazaki will hold a joint exhibition. In the first half of the exhibition, both artists will give a live performance and actually collaborate with each other at the venue. The second half of the exhibition will be a video installation.

The two artists have been friends for several years, and have long wished to collaborate on something, and fortunately, the gallery took over this project. From the beginning of the project, it was planned to be a work that combined painting and sound, however, not an installation simply inserting sound into the exhibition space. Therefore, Wakasa attempted to improvise sound while witnessing Okazaki's paintings. Throughout the exhibition hall, there will be countless speakers installed to play five songs of their collaboration.

Visitors are invited to reassemble the deconstructed sound sources in their imagination while experiencing the works.

Orin performance recorded at Unryuzan Shoukouji Temple, a national treasure.

The orin was made by Shimatani Shoryu Koubou, which has inherited the technique from the Edo period in Takaoka, Toyama.
The orin is made by Shimatani Shoryu Kobo, a company that has been using this technique since the Edo period in Takaoka, Toyama.
Recorded on a moonless November new moon, in the solemn, dimly lit main hall of the temple, the rich resonance and ripples of sound meld and mingle with each other.

Teitakusubako" is a mansion architecture based in Kamakura.
This 9-minute soundtrack was produced in response to a video work that reconstructs the architectural characteristics of six of their past cases, which were carefully analyzed, filmed, edited, and extracted, and then reconstructed into six films. The sound source, whose textures and tones change over time like a picture scroll, expresses the near and far views in human consciousness of architecture. And The work was also partly inspired by an essay by Junichiro Tanizaki called In-ei Raisan.

鎌倉を拠点とする邸宅建築「邸宅巣箱」。
その過去の事例6件の建築的特徴を丹念に分析・撮影・編集・抽出し、6本の映像作品として再構築したものに呼応して制作された9分間のサウンドトラック。絵巻物のように時間とともに質感や音色が変化する音源は、建築に対する人間の意識における近景と遠景を表現している。また、本作品の一部は谷崎潤一郎のエッセイ『陰翳礼讃』からインスパイアされている。

MINORI OGA' her paintings stand out for their bold strokes against restrained color tones, and together with floating objects, compose a space of their own. The paintings do not merely pursue a tranquil space, but appeal to the senses beyond the visual sense as if the brushstrokes, the matiere, and the painted objects begin to vibrate with each other, providing an experience of viewing the paintings that changes rhythm and speed as they move back and forth. The "traces" of the artist's attempt to capture the very moment when the painting is impregnated with a heartbeat are emerging.

What characterizes Auger's painting is the brushstrokes and handling of spatulas and brushes (tools of the lacquer art).
The way she attempts to determine the state of the paint on the palette and on the screen, and to fix it in place, recalls her relationship with the lacquer craft she has been engaged in.
