This week on Topshelf we're extremely excited to bring you the soulful sounds of DJ/Producer Reece Johnson.
Hailing from Sheffield and currently based in Cornwall, Reece started producing in 2012, taking influence from artists like Detroit Swindle. Kerri Chandler, Mood II Swing & Phil Weeks.

With records signed to Nervous records, Skylax, Inner City and being a regular player for Debug which has seen him share a line up with The Martinez Bros, Crazy P, Heidi, Huxley & Eats Everything just to name a few, Reece has established himself as a main stayer of the scene and one of the busiest Producers about with upwards of 10 releases this year alone.

Providing a lesson in Disco and Funk, we present to you, Reece Johnson.

Topshelf is back for 2022 and where better to begin than with Essex born, Melbourne based soundstress, MEG 4x4.

Championing Australian talent with a beautiful genre bending journey through electronic world music, MEG’s attention to detail with her faultless track selection and seamless mixing brings forth some of the most inspiring soundscapes we’ve been blessed enough to enjoy on the show, combining elements of ambience, bass, house, psychedelic disco, 80’s inspired electronica and more, this ones a real treat.

We truly couldn’t have asked for a better mix to return with so without further ado here are the forever captivating sounds of MEG 4x4.

This week on Topshelf fresh off the back of his latest release, the 'Jazz at the Muniaka Club' EP which dropped on the 29th of this month,we have Northampton's own DJ, producer, Soul Groove (UK).

Soul Groove is the host of Afro Galactic Jazz, a Northampton based Afro & Jazz night as well as an incredibly talented producer, whose signature jazz infused house music captivates the minds of all who hear it.

This week on Topshelf we're blessed to be joined by New York Based, Belarusian Electronic DJ/Producer Phil Anker.

A master at creating emotionally driven soundscapes and experimenting within the electronic genre, Phil Anker has been perfecting his explorative craft since the release of his first EP, 'Clouds on the Ceiling' in 2015. 
We see Phil Anker's work as some of the most consistent in the world of Electronic music, boasting an incredible back catalogue of celestially atmospheric masterpieces including 'Lost Melody', 'Oceans', 'Magnetic', 'The Longest Night', 'Closer' & 'Lost in Mind' as well as his glorious delve into italo with 80's infused beauties 'Connection' & 'Sun City'.

With his new album 'Secret Mountain' having been released in June of this year and featuring another 2 instant classics for us in the aforementioned 'Closer' & 'Lost in Mind'  it gives us great pleasure to give you Topshelf 054 w/ Phil Anker. Enjoy

This week on Topshelf we feel extremely blessed to have with us DJ, Producer & Disco edit royalty in Pete Le Freq.

12 years into his craft, Pete Le Freq is an editorial powerhouse, providing DJ's all over the globe with remixes of tracks they've been crying out to play to their crowds but have never had the polished product on hand. Remixing everyone from Talking Heads to Sade, Diana Ross to The Police & everything in-between, he has breathed fresh life into hundreds (maybe even thousands) of songs, playing them out for punters during his famed 5 hour sets at his residency at Sotano in York.

Some of our favourites include his beautifully crafted 'Hang on to your Love' edit, which we've played to death in our live sets to much fan fare. His funk fuelled 'Girlfriend is Better' re-imagining, a wonderfully executed 'Georgy Porgy' remix & an edit of Paul McCartneys secret weapon 'Coming Up' to name merely a few.

Pete Le Freq is the gift that keeps on giving and we couldnt be more grateful for it, with his eclectic taste and imaginative re-inventions, long may he reign.

This week on Topshelf we're overjoyed to have with us Bristol based Soul, Funk & Disco DJ, Beavs.

With an undeniable ear for a groove, Beavs has been releasing mixes for over a year now with no signs of slowing down. In this short time she's already spun her gold on Loose FM, TLCFM, Vandelay Radio and Void Radio with her blend of international disco, 80's soul, Jazz and Reggae being a wonderfully digestible pairing for any radio station.

With live shows rolling in and her first festival booking at the always on point Westival this year, Beavs has had a fantastic debut year and we cannot wait to see what this budding DJ does next. So without further ado, here's Topshelf 0122 with Beavs. Enjoy

The Library LMD Presents Topshelf 0122 w/ Beavs

This week on Topshelf we’re gassed to have with us the highly talented German duo, DJ/Producers, Hard Drive Library.



With an undeniable sound that can calls back to the disco house anthems of the 2000’s and further, Hard Drive Library have been consistently releasing weapons since their 2018 debut ‘Dont Leave Me (Until the Flamenco Stops)’ with Alex Mallios, a disco lead number that set the standard of what to expect from the young duo.



2019 would see the release of their debut EP ‘HDL No. 01’ which brilliantly demonstrated the pairs incredible talent for sampling as well as expressing a deep love for the disco genre in its entirety. Big beats, great vocals, wonderful strings and one hell of a good time. 

In 2020 Hard Drive Library gave us ‘Love Songs Are Bad Songs’, a two track EP that showed that the duo were far from just a one trick pony and that there love for house music was just as rich as there love for soul and disco. ‘Something like Heaven’ gives us flashbacks to bands like Everything but the Girl and the SOS band whilst ‘Tell Me When It’s Over’ hits like an Underworld song, highly showcasing the budding producers talents.



2021 holds so many anthems for the duo including ‘Back 2 Rhythm’ a big room, disco house, summer anthem that still identifies as their biggest hit. ‘2010-2020 Flex’ which is the first track we came across by Hard Drive Library and a solid love song to 80’s soul which been supported by our residents many times. ‘Messing Up’ which is a beautifully whimsical house track that further highlights the pairs impressive sampling chops. ‘HCTS’ is another one that has been dropped by our residents countless times at summer parties, the list goes on and on. 



More recently we’ve been gifted to gems like ‘Keep it Groovin’ and the 2024 addition to the back catalogue in the ‘HDL No.05’ EP which delivered us nostalgic treats like ‘Another’. 





There are few producers who can perfectly encapsulate multiple decades in their work but Hard Drive Library do it with every release. Whether they’re using soul for the 80’s, house to the 90’s or their sampling ability and love of disco for the 2000’s, HDL never miss and we couldn’t be more happy to have them deliver a huge mix this week so without further ado here’s a couple of our favourite producers for Topshelf with Hard Drive Library, enjoy.

The Library LMD Presents Topshelf 0125 w/ Hard Drive Library

This week on Topshelf we’re overjoyed to have with us Greek Disco DJ/Producer, mR GEE.

With a background catalogue that speaks loudly to disco purists, mR gee has been releasing records in the genre since 2020’s ‘Get On Down’ EP, featuring the easy groovin' title track alongside the beautifully constructed ‘Say What You Want’. Seriously soulful stuff with the perfect amount of funkiness. 
2024 has seen the artists soundcloud fill up with EP after EP, releasing multiple records in the months towards the back end of the year including the ‘Gravity’ EP which gives us a taste of mR GEE’s house chops on the title track l, whilst also speaks to the soul admirer in all of us with ‘MIDNIGHT LOVERS’. ‘Northern !Funkk’ is another record re-released last year on soundcloud that has to be mentioned, with mR gee demonstrating his undeniable talent for sampling on the title feature which brings heat alongside ‘come on dance my music’. 

Other notable anthems include the hilariously groovy, Al Pacino sampled classic ‘’People Like Me’ and ‘Jalawhatt’ which is what first pulled us towards mR GEE’s impressive talent for vocal sampling.

mR gee has shown us time and time again that he can perform wonders in disco, working within multiple sub-genres effortlessly and showcasing his unbelievable skill with a sample. So without further ado, we are delighted to bring you his delights for Topshelf 0135. enjoy 

The Library LMD Presents Topshelf 0134 w/ mR GEE

This week on Topshelf we’re delighted to have with us Brazilian DJ/Producer Zanelato.

A master of the edit, Zanelato has been producing under his moniker since his 2020 version of Ray Phiri’s ‘Play that sax’. 

This early work would be the first demonstration of Zanelato’s style of groove, calling back to the soulful production of the late 80’s / early 90’s as further showcased on his next release. A remix of JND’s ‘Dub in Paris’.

One of Zanelato’s biggest merits is celebrating Latin American music and his next string of edits would do just that, with glorious edit’s of Paula Santoro’s ‘Só Você E Eu’ and Afrodite Se Quiser’s ‘Vida Ferida’, introducing us in the West to a range of artists undiscovered. 

Zanelato’s latest run see’s him put a 90’s spin on The Beloved’s classic ‘The Sun Rising’, MC Eddy’s ‘Quero’, Margareth Menezes’ ‘Elegibô’ and Angélica’s ‘ O Meu Jeito De Ser’.

This week on Topshelf we're delighted to have with us Hungarian Tech House DJ & Producer, Vitus.

With a vibrant career that only began in 2024 and to those who know his work, Vitus is an extremely impressive tech house producer, releasing a multitude of singles, as well as an EP all in his debut year.

His 'Luxx' EP is one of the most enjoyable tech house records we came across in 2024, with 'Bring it on' being a summer corker, fitting for any motive once the sun reveals itself. The title track shows off Vitus' quality in his production, with glorious strings and a minimal tech house under belly that gives us one of our favourite tracks within the genre, an understated classic. 'Closed Doors' closes out the EP with it's synth flare and percussive prowess to make this a highly impressive debut.

His latest track 'Bob Jamz' fittingly does exactly what it says on the tin, in fact it's impossible 
not to have a bob to. Utilising funky piano notes and basslines, on top of breaks samples to give us another track that never rushes any of its components and carries on the trend of top quality tracks, in a genre that needs some new life blown through it. Vitus is that guy.

This week on Topshelf we’re delighted to have with us, all the way from Germany, Harry Nipples.

With a superb start to 2025 playing at Katernacht alongside the likes of Bryan Kessler, M-High and Bambi S, Harry Nipples is a euphoric treat to the ear drums.

With her sets aesthetically celebrating the 80’s, serving out glorious synths, pulsating basslines and piano grooves, Harry Nipples is truly a fantastic representation for Italo.

‘Dance Now’, Harry Nipples original track with fellow Berliner jo.desaga is an italo DJ’s dream, giving us 90’s inspired trance vocals alongside dreamy signature piano keys and a superb bassline that is impossible not to throw down to. Anthem.

With a crackin’ mix for us incorporating Italo and Soul and perfectly showcasing the artists exceptional mixing and track selection, serving it all up on a wave of 80’s emotion. We couldn't be happier to bring the groovin' delights of Harry Nipples. Enjoy

Topshelf is back after a short hiatus throughout the essay period, but we are back and proud to bring you a fresh new mix from DJ / Producer, Queen of Coins.

With a self titled debut album releasing at the end of 2024, Queen of Coins has started there production career off with a bang, with the record featuring an array of corkers, including the ever evolving ’Summer Card’, which analogically delivers a wonderful start to the record.

Other highlights include ’Bring It To The Top’ , ‘Damaged Souls’, ‘Oreo Cake’ and ‘Head Tension’ which all carry the signature pulsating baselines, giving us a juicy italo core accompanied with beautiful synths, all harking back to 80’s nostalgia.

This week on Topshelf we’re delighted to have with us Bristol based, Deep Tech DJ/Producer, Alexisitry.

With a multitude of accomplished formats under her belt, Alexisitry has a SWU.FM show, whilst also being member of Bristols techno events team and record label, Flat 7, on top of heading up her own night, Alexisitry’s Cocktail Club. The next progression naturally for the impressive DJ was to start releasing music and 2024 saw the beginning of what looks to be an illustrious production career. Teaming up with fellow Flat 7 member Edetto for both the techno stomper ‘Where The Party At?’ and ‘Where the 1 At?’, which is a golden track for afters.

We’re never one to break tradition and Illyus & Barrientos have arrived to kick start a brand new year for Toolroom. As we wave a goodbye to 2020, these Scottish house heroes return to their home label for the brand new single ‘Dancing Hearts’. 

This duo really need no introduction and have gained massive support in recent years from the likes of Annie Mac, Danny Howard and Pete Tong, also featuring on Radio 1's prestigious legendary Essential Mix. Their individual backgrounds are diverse, each bringing originality to their productions. Their DJ sets are packed with passion and energy, and it’s no wonder this duo have held a number of residencies around the world. 

Their singles are instantly recognisable and ‘Disco Hearts’ is no different. Big, rasping vocals from the utterly brilliant Laura Davie powers through the fun-fuelled, energy packed, disco laced production, making this an essential slice a feel-good house music!
