I did this about a year ago -- posting again because I reworked it a bit, and I just really like the tune. The 2nd & 3rd verses were inspired by a fellow SoundCloud member's life events. 

Is it There

one two three four five six seven
all good children go to heaven

is it there
is it right there by your side

while you were sleeping
a summer rain fell through the night
(hear the sound of the falling rain there in the night)
and the taste of bitter dreams became sweeter
with the gentle sound in your mind
(knowing that soon the sun will rise leaving the night behind)

is it there to remind
that everything will be alright

I put down the page knowing there was no turning back
I watched her breathing in the sacred arc of life
I wandered alone in a hallway lit by an exit light

so much time when you were young
didn't feel the pendulum
now the saturnine faces of the ones we love
you wonder why

if I could have anything that I could keep safe and never undone
I would hold you in this fragile moment in the september sun
it means everything to have you near me





Is it There

I was recently on holiday in Lanzarote and i was caught in a Rip Tide. A really scary experience and i am very glad that i lived to tell the tale. I was only about 2 feet from the shore and i could not reach the shore because of the power of the Rip Tide, no matter how hard i swam, i was certainly drowning. All of a sudden a young local man saw that i was in danger and with no regard for his own life just jumped right in and somehow managed to get me to the shore. It was a truly heroic act on his part. It took me about 45 mins to get myself together from the shock and the Adrenaline. I found him and thanked him and i am ashamed to say that i do not even know his name. Thank you .

When i was reflecting on this experience i realised that life is like a Rip Tide. It pulls you out to sea and sometime we really do need someone to Literally jump in and save us, or throw us a life buoy to get us to safety. This song is about being caught in the Rip Tide of life and dedicated to the young man who saved my life .

This is a love song written about Josh's favorite band, Phish. He came up with the chords on his acoustic guitar, and shared it with the group. This was written with Beck in mind, though, too, as he knew she'd be contributing her magic to this one, too. Even when it was just the acoustic guitar set to a looper beat, she came up with many of the parts you hear throughout. Although, she also readjusted and redid a lot of it, too, throughout the process. Ken was the next piece of the puzzle to jump in. He laid down his perfect drums beats to it in only one or two tries, giving it the groove it needed. After Ken laid down the beat, that allowed Josh to add his bass to the mix, too. It was almost done musically, but it needed a lead guitar, which Josh also put in there. Before it was finished, though, JJ weighed in with his clever organ, which can be heard from about 2:30 on. When it was all wrapped up musically, Josh sang his lyrics, which are written from the perspective of two Phish heads conversing about the imminent Phish show, which is always a big, exciting event. 

Josh has seen almost 70 Phish shows in his life, and he hopes his adoration for the band is evident in this song. This is the second song Eclectic Collective have done with Beck, and we all hope for many more, too. She's a fantastic musician, with a wonderfully deep well of creativity. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Im from Melbourne Australia, I have been playing guitar for many years now and played in two bands during the 80's & 90's (STOLEN CAR original) & (STORM cover),both bands never released any material. Since 2010 i have been writing songs and tunes and recording them in my music room (3rd Bedroom), i play Guitar, Bass, Keys, BFD2 Drums(programmed)and Vocals on all of my songs which i class as Demo's, I love all types of music but Hard Rock, Rock to Alternative appeals to me most.
