About Emanate:
Emanate is an American electronic music duo consisting of Emily Fox and Nathan Vain, known for their signature blend of techno, house, and progressive electronic music. The pair are celebrated for their atmospheric productions, emotive storytelling, and hypnotic live performances that bridge melodic techno with underground house.

Formed in 2009 and based in San Francisco California, Emanate have released music on respected international labels such as Second State, Click Records, Unseen, Family Piknik, Culprit LA, Prisma Techno, and their own imprint, Mioli Music. Their productions have earned widespread DJ support and global recognition within the modern techno scene.

Early Life and Formation:
Emily Fox and Nathan Vain were both born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and shared a strong musical upbringing. Each studied classical instruments in school — notably the viola — and developed early passions for performance and composition.

Nathan began DJing on vinyl in the late 90s, immersed in the early underground rave scene, while Emily honed her craft as a vocalist, songwriter, and synthesist in various bands before transitioning into electronic production and DJing.

Their shared creative direction and love for underground culture led to the formation of Emanate in 2009. Their early influences from the warehouse and festival circuit across the U.S. shaped the foundation of their sound and ethos. They also studied music production at Pyramind University in San Francisco which further developed their passion and skillset.

Musical Style and Influences:
Emanate’s music is often described as “vibey techno with elements of house” — a balance of groove, melody, and emotional depth. Their sound fuses driving rhythms and melodic tension, with cinematic sound design that evokes introspection and euphoria.

Influences include Brian Eno, Hans Zimmer, Underworld, Danny Elfman, and Sasha & Digweed. Nathan’s musical background spans punk rock, industrial, hip hop, and ambient, drawing inspiration from artists like Ministry, Massive Attack, and Wu-Tang Clan, while Emily’s musical background includes Fleetwood Mac, Trentemøller, and NWA.

Emanate’s catalog spans over a decade of releases across internationally recognized labels. Some notable works include:

“At Night” (2022) – Techno reinterpretation, featured in D-Nox’s São Paulo live stream.
“Dystopia” (Family Piknik, 2022) – Remix by Citizen Kain, supported by Joris Voorn on Spectrum Radio.
“Again & Again” (Second State, 2019) – Part of Pan-Pot’s SUM 6 Compilation.
“Auspices” (Culprit LA, 2019) – Collaboration with Pablo Bolivar.
“From The Ashes” (Prisma Techno, 2021) – Featured on Evolution IV.

Their 2014 debut album Alliance, written in Berlin, showcased the duo’s early sonic identity and earned recognition from tastemakers and DJs worldwide.

Emanate have performed at renowned venues and festivals across Europe, North America, and Latin America, including Watergate (Berlin), Privilege (Ibiza), Family Piknik Festival (France), The Midway & The Great Northern (San Francisco), Spybar (Chicago), TV Lounge (Detroit), Culture Box (Copenhagen), Octava (Bogotá), Vagalume & Mia Beach Club (Tulum), Burning Man (Nevada), BPM Festival (Mexico), Factory 93 / Insomniac Events (USA). They hold residencies at San Francisco’s leading venues curating immersive events under the Mioli Music banner.

Mioli Music and Other Ventures:
Founded in 2010, Mioli Music (Originally named from the acronym ‘Move It Or Lose It’ and has recently evolved into ‘Music Is Our Lif’s Inspiration’) serves as both a record label and event production brand. Under Emanate’s direction, Mioli Music has become a pillar of San Francisco’s underground electronic scene — hosting events, rooftop series, and club nights that spotlight both established and emerging artists.Emanate also co-founded Kausmic, a nonprofit event series that donates a portion of proceeds to charitable causes. Their second label, MOR MUSIC (Masters of Rhythm), was established in 2025 to explore higher energy, peak hour Techno Inspired by the pulse of late-night dancefloors and the electricity of underground rave culture.

Recognition and Media Features:
Emanate have been featured in major electronic music publications and radio outlets, including Electronic Groove, Deep House Amsterdam, Techno Blazer, It’s A Journey Radio, Mind Matter, and EPHIMERA Tulum live-stream performances. Their remixes have appeared on international DJ charts, including Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s Top 10 selections in 2013.

Artistic Philosophy:
Emanate approaches music as both a creative expression and spiritual experience. They view the dancefloor as a place of connection, introspection, and transcendence, and aim to open emotional “portals” for listeners.

Ireesh Lal is a multi-instrumentalist and programmer who combines original electronic music with exotic East Indian elements alongside the distinctly Western tones of the jazz trumpet, creating a captivating new sound. Based in Venice, California, Lal sites Thievery Corporation, Miles Davis, and Ravi Shankar as three of his influences, and you can hear traces of each artist in his music. Built on top of brisk programmed grooves made irresistible with lush Eastern dimensions of tabla and sitar, Lal lays down commanding trumpet lines to convey the melodies, taking the lead amongst the cool, heady swirl of each tune.  

108 College & Community radio stations across North America added his music. Latest album, Journey Through the Chakras, reached #4 on the NACC Top 30 World Music Charts. National Public Radio featured his music on PRI's "The World".

Ireesh Lal is also a founding member of LA-based trio, Lal Meri. His debut release with the band on Six Degrees Records (2009) received positive critical acclaim, including a feature on National Public Radio’s "All Things Considered" and Public Radio International’s "The World". Influential radio station, KCRW, also invited the group to perform live on its program, "Morning Becomes Eclectic". Music from Lal Meri can be heard on Buddha Bar compilation, volume 12.
