For our first release of 2017 RNT welcomes HADE! Best known for his work on Local Talk and Basic Fingers, the Cologne native delivers a symmetrical 2 sides of disco edit barnstormers and downtempo head-nodders. London-based producer Nebraska delivers his ‘Drill Deep’ EP with three sample based productions, including the title track that features a disco motif primed for the dancefloor.

Following releases on Rush Hour, Heist, Delusions of Grandeur and Mister Saturday Night​, Nebraska now turns his attention to the Brooklyn based imprint Razor-N-Tape’s sub-label, Razor-N-Tape Reserve. He's been known for a plethora of musical styles, but ‘Drill Deep’ showcases the more upbeat side to his musical persona while also highlighting his skill using eclectic samples.

For producing the material, Nebraska dug deep into his sample library: “Though not all made in the same period of time, these three tracks all feature drums sampled and chopped from vinyl copies of reggae records paired with samples from 70s soul productions – I prefer things to sound a little crackly and rough, that basement-y, sound system type of vibe.”

Nebraska’s ‘Drill Deep’ EP will be released March 29 on "easter yellow" 12" vinyl.

Nebraska comes to Razor-N-Tape Reserve with a 3-tracker of soul-laden sampley goodness primed for the floor. The title track drills deep to the depths of primal funk for an extended disco-house workout that stretches over the full A side. On flip we have a pair of slow-burners, with Instant Pressure juxtaposing modern R&B vocal flavor over a hypnotic rhythm track, and then Keep On Keeping On takes us back to the classic soul side with its gritty and gospel-infused groove.

Barefoot Beats 05 Side A - Barefoot Boogie - JKriv [Snippet]

Ian Finkelstein is a jazz pianist and producer. He has been an active member of the Detroit jazz community since the age of 14. A student of Geri Allen, he performed with Marcus Belgrave from 2010 until Belgrave's death in 2015. He currently performs with the Robert Hurst Quintet, and is a founding member of Detroit music collective Video7.

Ian self-released his first album of house music It’s Time in 2016. His keyboard work can be heard on tracks by Scott Grooves, Omar-S and Shigeto among others. He is a regular member of Scott Grooves’ Overdubs.

The Middle Birth EP highlights Ian’s dual talents as a producer and instrumentalist. Side A features two electronic cuts, “Middle Birth” and “Mort Crim” with Ian playing live drums and bass on the latter.  SIDE B showcases Ian’s jazz quartet; he is joined by several of Detroit’s most talented young musicians: Marcus Elliot on sax, Ben Rolston on bass and Alex White on drums.

Brooklyn’s @sonofsound joins hometown label Razor-N-Tape with The Dusty Files EP, a 4-tracker that embodies the gritty and driving sound of the borough. The A-side kicks off with Your Voodo’s Broken, a track that builds to mid-tempo looped perfection even before the floor-shaking bass drops, followed by the beguiling synth patterns and efficient yet driving drums of No Bullets Left. On the flip side, Nude Jerzee eschews the bridges and tunnels and takes us straight to NJ by way of outer space, and then What Do You Feel floats us gently back to earth on a cloud of strings, electric pianos and a chugging disco beat.
