D.S.SVINTRIDIS: "ARIA" FOR VOICE AND GUITAR (Deticated to my Father)

DIMITRIS SVINTRIDIS is a State Music School teacher of Classical Guitar, a composer and member of the Union of Greek Composers, born in Xylagani, in the prefecture of Rodopi. He holds: 1) Classical guitar degree from the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens, under the supervision of Prof. P. Ioannou, 2) Diploma on guitar studies, instructed by the international soloist K. Kotsiolis. 3) Diploma on Composition, instructed by the international conductor and composer TH. Antoniou. From 2009 to 2011, he attended courses on composition of electronic music by the composer P. Kokoras. He has attended many guitar seminars by L. Brower( Cuba ), R. Aussel-(Argentina), M. Barrueco-( Cuba), J Castro Balbi (Perou)-J. Zapka-(Slovakia), A Carlevaro-(Uruguay), H. Keppel-(Germany) . In total, he has gained eleven awards and distinctions, having participated in Pan-Hellenic, and International competitions.
Significant points of his career in “COMPOSITION” were: a) In 2011, he achieved a great distinction in “COMPOSITION” receiving three awards in different categories, having participated in the Third International Competition in Composition in Thessaloniki, organized by the Municipal Conservatory of Neapolis and Sykeon, in collaboration with the National Academy of the USA. b) In Italy in 2013 he participated in the International Clarinet Association Festival, with a live performance of his musical composition entitled “THE BEGINNING AND THE END OF THE WORLD” for solo clarinet and electronics. c) In 2016, in the 3rd guitar Festival , when his concert for two guitars and string orchestra, based on a traditional Thracian theme composed at the request of the Association of Greek Guitarists, was first performed in Thrace , by soloists: S. Goglari and M. Saurvino, d)In April 2018 at the fifth guitar festival in Komotini, the State Opera of Thessaloniki, as an appreciation of his many pieces of work in composition, performed one of his pieces entitled THREE THRACIAN SONGS . It was the first time the opera included in their repertoire a piece composed by a Thracian composer.
Mr Svintridis has written : 1) A SCHOOL METHOD FOR GUITAR PLAYING 2)A COLLECTION OF PIECES FOR SOLO AND GUITAR DUETS 3)A COLLECTION OF PIECES FOR PIANO entitled “MUSIC FOR YOUNG PEOPLE” No 1 and No2. In 2017, he had his first CD with music for string orchestra, recorded and completed in collaboration with the State Opera of Bourgas , Bulgaria. In total, he has composed more than eighty musical pieces. Pieces of his work were performed in the concert halls of Athens, Thessaloniki and Komotini, the State Conservatory in Thessaloniki, the Municipal Theatre of Pyraeus and many more places in Greece and abroad. (SPAIN, ITALY, MOSCOW, BULGARIA)

Positions held: From 2002 to 2004 he was the artistic director of The Thracian Conservatory in Komotini. In 2006 he was appointed as a State Music-School classical guitar teacher in Komotini, where he has been teaching ever since. From 2007 to 2009 he was a member of the Artistic Committee of the Ministry of Education and Religion. Since 2014 he is the artistic director of the Guitar Festival of Thrace.
