Laurent Garnier returns to production with a new project: "A13", released by Musique Large. Rohit Chandak aka Nour is a Jaipur based musician whose latest release is a single titled "Shades of my mind". Describing the impermanence of the contents of one's mind aurally, the track places the listener as the observer of these fluidic shifts. The elements of the track comprise, a slow paced string backdrop to a seemingly fast recurring bassline, and double time drum drops. In melodic terms, the elements are vividly simple, revolving around a fixed tonality, moving about in a scalar fashion rather than focussing on chord shifts. The complexity is defined rather by rhythmic harmonies than sectional ones with the textures varying from sine tones to emotive strings and industrial percussion with a well rounded higher sub bass.
Donning multiple hats Rohit is also part of a electronic duo project - Sluice Insanity.
