Quietsilk

Found a large Velvet Ant walking on my driveway today, and couldn't help but notice the odd sounds this insect was making. The recording is of the insect crawling around inside a cardboard box, before I let it go back into my backyard. The Velvet Ant, also known as the "Cow Killer" is actually not an ant, but a wasp. I recorded this with 2 DPA 4060 Lav's and Sound Devices 702 recorder at 24bit-96Khz.

This track was awarded "Best Crazy Combination" at the Music Innovation Competition" from Mixed in Key. 

From its structural form to its unusual use of rhythm, microtonal musical scales, extended harmony and lyrics written in my own conlang, this beat has a lot of extra cheese added to it.

My entry for the KVR forum's One Synth Challenge #141. 

Something dark, fast and percussion driven. As you can tell, I'm really proud of that backward kick drum in the accented parts :D

This time all the sounds are made using Monique by Monoplugs. BTW it's a free vst now! I really liked one of the factory patches. After I was playing with it for a while I decided to focus mainly on creating my own percussion set and then building composition around that.
