JohnnyGfromPhilly, Philadelphia’s underground dance secret, is one of the few DJ’s still playing vinyl and pushing an authentic approach to underground dance music.  A veteran of the Dance music scene since 1993, John has devoted every ounce of energy and every dime into collecting the most beautiful music he can find. His selections are equally at home on the shores of Ibiza or at a Brooklyn Loft party stuffed with dazzling lights and balloons going way into the wee morning hours.
 



Growing up in the Philadelphia suburbs John was inspired by the late-night radio sessions of Robbie Tronco.  It was at the age of 13 when he first traveled to England and saw what house music looked like in London’s Leicester Square. Eleven years later he was playing at Layo Paskin’s club called “The End” in London and attending the Lazy Dog Parties of Ben Watt and Jay Hannan at Notting Hill Arts Club. His next move was to Dance music’s mecca, New York City.  It was there where he met and saw his musical inspiration, Tony Humphries.  John learned how to warm up a dance floor and work the energy of the room by watching Tony slowly increase the tempo, only to break it down in the most dynamic of ways. In 2007 John was invited to participate in the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy. He was one of of only two people from the Philadelphia area to attend.
 



Today, John is an acknowledged musical historian, and while some may accuse him of living in the past, he would say that you must understand the past to appreciate the future. His dj sets transcend notions of genre and age, instead tying together many different styles with threads that may not be immediately apparent. On hearing his sets, though, the connections make sense. Simply put, John is a devotee of beautiful and soulful dance music, be it house, disco, boogie, jazz, rock, and beyond!

The New Addiction is a Rock Band hailing from the sunny province of San Diego, California. A breath of fresh air, with hook friendly guitars, big beats, catchy vocal melodies, sparkling harmonies, and with lyrics that sing straight to the heart, to simply put, this band stands out from the rest. After years of relentless touring, completing the 2005 Vans Warped Tour under a previous moniker, three members picked up the pieces hitting the studio to record their debut as The New Addiction. Formed in Fall of 2005, the band first released the Full Length Album, "No Progress Without Change" debuting it in Japan on the In Ya Face (JP) label in 2006 selling over 1,500 units the first month of release, alongside the zombie apocalypse-inspired music video for the single, "The World Is Over", later releasing a reissued version of the LP with featured bonus tracks in the U.S. in 2007. A slew of underground bootleg releases surfaced up including a 2006 cover of The Police's "I Can't Stand Losing You". During that time, the younger buzz-worthy outfit began touring yet again, garnering national and international cult-like notoriety due to the additional success of media and hit television shows like The Vampire Diaries, Smallville, Supernatural, One Tree Hill, Ellen, Extreme Makeover, Tyra Banks, Laguna Hills, The Real World, just to name a few, including other network features of originals on both The CW and MTV.

While never wavering demise, The New Addiction disbanded at the brink of 2008 while on tour in Hollywood with Pour Habit (Fat Wreck Chords), later finishing off remaining dates in Southern California. In October 2011 the band reunited in their hometown of San Diego for a sold out show, with more dates following suit. In 2014, the band released their first studio recording of a new song, "Receiver" featured on the La Escalera Records Compilation, "Without Each Other, We Have Nothing! Vol. 1". It was the first release of any kind since the band's hiatus. Later that same year, The CW Network dusted off the catalog, exclusively featuring the song, "Take Control" as the promotional theme of their upcoming groundbreaking Season 10 "The Road So Far", for the Sci-Fi Hit TV Series, Supernatural. After breaking up 8 years ago, the band is back, and once again back at it working on new music releasing a new album, "Filters", due out in stores worldwide August 30, 2016! With overtones ranging from bands like The Police, Elvis Costello and The Attractions, The Replacements, to The Living End, The New Addiction utilize their love of Rock 'N' Roll (past and present) to mend aggressive music and catchy melodies with heartfelt lyrics and dazzling harmonies.
