This digital album was recorded to cassette on a four-track recorder over a few days in January 1996 by Inbal Perlmutter and Ram Orion, two Israeli musicians and friends.
Perlmutter was 24 and fronting a very successful young rock trio - Ha Mechashefot (The Witches) and came to London for a vacation before releasing the band’s second album. Orion (27 at the time) was already living in London and formerly a member in a couple of iconic alternative bands in Israel. Inbal offered Ram to collaborate on some new songs she was writing in English (by providing feedback and arranging as well as helping her in finalising the melodies) and since there had already been a four-track recorder at the flat they decided to record the songs in the days that were left before she had to go back to Israel.
‘Love’, the last track, was recorded on the night of the 14th of January 1996 and finished at the dawn of the 15th - Inbal’s 25th birthday; the same morning Inbal flew back to Israel.
Inbal named the project ‘Inballance’ and intended to release it back in Israel as a low-key independent cassette-album. She also wanted to contact some of the then new American lo-fi record labels that might have found interest in this project.
Being signed to a major label in Israel and having to focus on her own band’s new album the release was delayed.
On October the first, 1997, Inbal was killed in a car crash. She was 26 years old, at the peak of her success and creativity.
After Inbal’s death, ‘Inballance’ remained unreleased due to both emotional and legal reasons until now, 20 years later, when for the first time this lo-fi gem is available to everyone.

ענבלאנס הוקלט בארבעה או חמישה ימים בינואר 1996 על גבי קסטה בטייפ ארבעה ערוצים. כל השירים המבוצעים כאן, מלבד אחד, נכתבו על ידי ענבל לקראת ובזמן חופשה בת חודש בלונדון. לבקשתה הייתי מעורב בשלב הכתיבה- בעיקר בחוות דעת, עיבוד השירים, תפקידים, וגם קצת השלמות בלחנים.
לקראת חזרתה לארץ ובעקבות סקיצה לשיר שלי שהקלטנו ביחד על טייפ ארבעת הערוצים, החלטנו להקליט לתוך אותו המכשיר גם את השירים החדשים שלה.
התוצאה היא ההקלטות הביתיות שתשמעו כאן. סדר השירים הוא סדר העבודה עליהם. עם סיום ההקלטות, ולבקשת ענבל, צורפה לפרויקט גם הסקיצה שהקלטנו לשיר "דיפרנט גירל" ששובץ אחרון בסדר השירים, כשסיימנו את ההקלטות. זה היה ב-13 לינואר. ה-14 לחודש היה היום האחרון של ענבל בלונדון. אחרי שעזבה את החדר ששכרה, ענבל באה לדירה להעביר את הלילה עד הנסיעה לשדה התעופה. "Love"-ניצלנו את הלילה להקלטת שיר נוסף, שהפך לשיר האחרון החדש על הקסטה הקלטנו אותו לפנות הבוקר של ה-15 לינואר, 1996, יום הולדתה ה-25.
ענבל נתנה לפרויקט את השם "ענבלאנס" (א.א.ל.ט. כינוי שניתן לה ע"י אסי לוי) והכוונה הייתה להוציא אותו בארץ באופן צנוע על גבי קלטות במאות בודדות של עותקים. עם חזרתי לארץ כמה חודשים אחר כך ובעצה אחת עם חברת התקליטים והמנהלת שלה החלטנו לחכות עם שחרור האלבום-קסטה עד אחרי שתיבדק האפשרות ליצור קשר עם אחד הלייבלים האמריקניים שהוציאו אלבומי לו-פיי, וכפי שניתן לשמוע- שלנו בהחלט היה אחד.
זוהי אסופת שירים שנכתבו והוקלטו כקבוצה ויועדו לצאת, נכון ל-1996, בפורמט הכי זול, נגיש וצנוע שהיה אז-קסטה בהוצאה עצמאית. אין מקבילה אמיתית לזה היום אבל אפשר לשער שעכשיו אכן היינו מעלים את הפרויקט לבנדקמפ + קרדיטים, מילים, צילום וציורים (את כל אלו ענבל הכינה אז כעטיפה לקסטה/דיסק שהייתה קיימת בעותק אחד, לא ידוע מה קרה לה).
בויקיפדיה ובמקומות אחרים האלבום מוגדר כגנוז. מבחינת שני היוצרים שלו- לא הייתה אף פעם כוונה לגנוז אותו. אחרי מותה הכל כך מצער של ענבל הנסיבות שמו אותו בהמתנה ללא תאריך יעד ליציאה, עד עכשיו.
