So wonderful feel, love it. Aren't those childhood memories inspiring...

I remember growing up with my grandparents, they had this clock in their living room that would always play a melody each time it turned 12:00 pm Or 12 am. It would play this beautiful tone that lasted a good 15 seconds.  So, I made my own unique piece out of that tune for a memorial. 

I hope you all like this, this piece is a personal song that was part of my life.

Wishing you all a Wonderful, Magical and Merry Christmas and a New Year. I hope that this time is a festive and loving one :-) At times like these, however, it can be good to remember those who are alone on such a magical day as Christmas and New Years; to try and understand what it may be like;…. and for those who are feeling alone, to remember - that you don't have to feel alone. 

We are, in the main, relatively social creatures. We need each other. Unfortunately, this season has been a particularly difficult time, with 3 admissions to hospital and losing so much. My heart broke and all I could and can do, just for now, is to move from 'moment' to 'moment', hoping that one of these moments will be relatively 'ok' and that such moments will become more frequent and longer-lasting. Hope is all I have and hope is what it is all about in trying to give life meaning. I have also thought of, and missed so many of you and the music. Now it is time for a brief rest …..

SERIES BACKGROUND:
Over the last 3 years on SoundCloud, I have been creating a series of 'Lonely Seasons' improvisations/compositions - As noted on the Lonely Seasons No.I track:

I have memories of wonderful Christmases as a child, with real Xmas trees. There was a beautiful smell of fresh pine leaves, and the rooms were brightened with gorgeous decorations, pink marzipan sugar mice spread around the house, and the air filled with the magical anticipation of Xmas Eve, waiting to jump up onto one's parent's bed, …. its XMAS TIME!! :-)

 Its different now, and I see the decorations, in other places, the beautiful and bright colours, sounds and smells, all that it represents, I hear of people's Xmas plans and family and friends, I hear of stress, I hear of joy and anticipation, especially families with children - such wonders. Yet often we can forget that there are many people that do not have this joy, where the Xmas spirit seems to be for 'others'. So many lonely and/or unwell people, wishing to be a part of things, but unable to, for various reasons. 

Xmas can also bring back painful memories one just doesn't want to remember, and while the 'anticipation' of Xmas is still there, the actual day can be very lonely and sad. Thus, this song [and now series] was created - 'Lonely Seasons' - in dedication to, and to remember and think of those who are alone on Xmas and New Year. 

Yes, it is sad. at a time when there should be joy, but it is not mean't to be ……….. … for there is always hope that things will change and the magic of Christmas and better lives will return, and it will always stay in our memories. 

There are so many out there who are alone on these festive days. If you are one, try to remember, in simply knowing this, that you are not alone and you can try to make these days the best that you can. Enjoy the smallest of things, buy some 'xmasy' food, some cold ham, turkey and cranberry sauce, maybe even some cherries. Dress for the day or just lounge around in your PJ's :-) Play some music; walk the cat! Walk along the beach's edge at sunset (if in aussie land and its summer!), or build a snow person. Play in the dirt and garden and feel the spirit in the air

 Make these days YOUR days and be kind to yourself and become your own best friend/

Words cannot yet describe what this sombre piano improvisation means at this moment. where the music hopefully 'speaks' for itself, produced with a beautiful ambience and depth added to the piano by John Styles.  

A full Orchestral version of this piece is also in the planning ….

This music was initially inspired by watching images of terrorism and the fallout, the chaos and people running in fear  .. it was these horrifying images I saw as I played this music watching a silent TV … a reflection of so many lost opportunities for beautiful, carefree people, of those who were lost, and for the survivors, and their families and friends and the heroes who risked their lives.  These feelings were also expressed with John Styles, but I still cannot find words which are adequate enough to convey the depths of such sorrow……   Perhaps only music can achieve this

Declining health stopped me from uploading this track until now but I, and others, continue to keep going, in the belief and hope that life will change for the better  ….

It is this unknown in what may await us that inspired this piece …. but It is also this hope that we must hold onto if ever we undergo change, loss or grief in our lives…. Hope and peace within …. to continue on despite our external circumstances, for life can be filled with such joy, which we must try never to lose sight of…. even the simplest of things,… the flowers that bloom, the leaves blowing in the breeze, the singing of birds and the sun on our faces ……  to find a safe place within ourselves where we cannot be touched and where inner peace and silence holds strong …and solidarity of all helps us to carry on

Once upon a midnight dreary, the world bore witness to the emergence of a pianist composer whose music could only be described as mystical and captivating. This musical genius was none other than Shaun Allaway, whose compositions resonated with the classical sounds of Chopin and Vivaldi while also incorporating a new age element that set him apart as a true innovator.

Born into a family of musicians, Allaways' talent for the piano was evident from an early age.
