Wadi Rum

This piece was the final project for a percussion practicum class. The required instruments were suspended cymbals, snare drum, 3 toms, bass drum, triangle, marimba, vibraphone, timpani, brake drum, tam tam, gong, 2 wood blocks, 5 temple blocks, and tambourine.

Trapped Under Ice

This piece was part of the collaboration between vocal performance majors and composition majors at NYU. It uses the Latin text "O Sacrum Convivium," or "O sacred banquet," a text set to music by many composers including Olivier Messiaen and Thomas Tallis.

Sacred Dance

"Original Sin" was the culmination of Mix Nouveau, a project involving collaboration between the strings and composition departments of NYU. This piece represents the exodus of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, and what they would do with their newfound knowledge of sin. In a sense, this piece is what a composer from a time of restrictive compositional rules would write had they just discovered all of the typically "sinful" techniques of classical music--microtones, glissandi, snap (Bartok) pizzicato, the interval of the tritone, and unusual structure.
