"Original Sin" was the culmination of Mix Nouveau, a project involving collaboration between the strings and composition departments of NYU. This piece represents the exodus of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, and what they would do with their newfound knowledge of sin. In a sense, this piece is what a composer from a time of restrictive compositional rules would write had they just discovered all of the typically "sinful" techniques of classical music--microtones, glissandi, snap (Bartok) pizzicato, the interval of the tritone, and unusual structure.
