Growing up listening to gospel music led Lorianna to believe there was something special about the power of music. At a very young age she realized that it would become apart of her destiny. As a child Lorianna performed at various church events, talent shows, school performances and conventions- one thing was constant- she walked onto the stage unknown to most of her audience and stepped off of the stage recognized by the crowd as, "the girl who can sing". At age 13 years old Lorianna opened for the 1990's hit gospel group Commissioned. 
Although she has always envisioned music as part of her destiny, it wasn’t until after she’d earned a B.A in psychology from San Jose State University that she began recording. In early 2007 she managed to catch the ear of artist and producer Prince Damons (who has produced tracks for artists such as Pink and Dwele) and completed her first song "You Can Fly" with him later that year.
Originality is important to Lorianna, writing God-inspired songs of love and life that have an organic quality to them -skipping the fluffy commercial sound and instead opting for more flavorful lyrics. That much-needed relief from bubble gum pop is evident in her voice. Most recently Lana has sang backup for several up and coming Bay Area artists at the world renowned Yoshi's Jazz Club, San Francisco, Calif. A frequent guest artist to So Timeless, she has proven she can hold her own alongside noted artists and has become a crowd favorite in her own right.
Today Lana serves as the director of music to the fifty plus recording choir where she first showcased her musical abilities. Under her leadership the choir has become one of San Jose's premier singing ensembles, headlining the city's annual Church In The Park celebration. She also heads the praise and worship team and is responsible for the arrangement, production and execution of all things music at the church she attends.
The stage, her home; the mic, her door- and in the same fashion that she leads praise and worship, you are ushered in by the essence of her voice. After one listen, you eagerly nudge another music lover, set the mp3 player to play and affirm, " this is her, Lana: the girl who can sing.

JdotP disapperd from the music scene around 2009 but is now back with new material cooking. His sound before he vanished was electro- and progressive house. Today the electro sound is gone but the 'house' part is still there. His sound today is a blend of techy beats and funky and deep house. Real house. "Melodic" but sometimes very dark. But as before he never shuts a door for any particular style. A good track is always good whatever people label it as.

A friend forced me into a studio to perform live to capture a few song ideas.  Hope you enjoy Naked and Electric.  

For those new to Revboy, here is the start of the story:

In 1978, as an 18-year-old army-brat kid out of high school, I moved to NYC's Lower East Side.  It really was Alphabet City, Punk Rock and Fritz the Cat.  A wild, dangerous and stimulating environment to become a man.  Remarkably I was accepted into the inaugural NYU music business program.  Krank was formed with a couple of outlier classmates.  As a power trio we performed live at storied venues (CBGBs, Trax, Ritz, Cat Club) and were part of a community of musicians, artists, writers, filmmakers and knuckleheads.  It was an analog world and pre-AIDS.

In 1982, after interning at Artist House and Right Track Studio, I took a position at CBS Records in the video department.  MTV just went on air.  Behind the scenes, digital was starting to bubble.  I went on to found the Legacy Recordings division of Sony Music and earn my VP stripes.  I produced a few cool records along the way (The Clash, Johnny Cash. Mott the Hoople, et al) all while working with some of the greatest musicians, producers, writers, photographers and legendary industry personalities during the pinnacle of the music business.  Oh, we still had tethered phones and I did scoop one of the first PC desktops in the building.

I’m lucky I survived.

“True United” -  Recorded with Krank in 1982.  This studio track has never been released before.  I guess I was just waiting for the right time.  Wow 40-years later...

“Long Night Long” - Written about the bar 1 U.  We were the only kids allowed in.  Somehow I still have my scotch glass.  Recorded at Chung King with a band of brothers and special guests.

"Daylight" - Twenty-years ago, we realized we lost a best friend, a brother, in Tower 2.  A few of us gathered the next day and recorded Daylight. Written and recorded 9.12.01.

"Kill U" - Written in 1994 and released as "Republican Fight Song" in 2004.    If you didn't see it then, you were blind or stupid.  Recorded live at Power Station.  Mixed by RIP Jason Corsaro (Madonna, Bowie, Soundgarden, et al) so it's loud.

'Luv Urself' - written and vocalized on the fly...unedited...it just popped out...what an inspirational hook...great vamp...gotta love it...

'Healin' - originally written during the NYE sessions, first acoustic version...the verse is tightening up nice.

Revboy Dinner Sessions
A tight knit group of us had a bunch of kids in a short period of time.  A decision had to be made, be a musician or get a job.  I was lucky to have options.

We were good parents but needed adult time. This is when we started the multi-family dinner jam parties.  Yea, we invented them.  We traded houses every weekend, mostly for cleanup purposes.  Our kids grew up together.  They learned about independence and diversity.  It was a mixed crew.  We discovered wine and drank the good stuff.  We feasted.  Then we played.

While the kids ran around, crazy and free, indoors and outdoors, a few of us retired to the remote studio and turned it up.  It was a free for all.  Here are a few snippets:

“Dream About Me”- There are few words I wish I could change, but these were made up on the spot that night, and now they live on.  No way I can ever hit these highs again.  This would be a great Broadway song...

“Family (One of You and One of Me)” - A fun track and good example of the mumbles at the beginning, than it locks, everyone joins in...A rare background vocal performance by Mini.

Hard Kaur’s unprecedented rise to the top of the celebrity tree in Bollywoods tinsel town has been
one of the biggest successes that any solo British Asian entertainer has seen this decade. From
Birmingham to Bombay, she actively launched a colossal scale hip hop attack on Asian and introduced
to the continent a new concept. The reward?...Indian media hailed her as the saviour of the music
scene with her sound being the biggest new musical concept since Bappi Lahiri’s introduction to Disco.
The enfant terrible took her unique blend of British bubble gum hip hop, and brought to the forefront
a sound that would launch her as a national hero in India. Having caused a furore in the run up to the
finals in India’s version of ‘Dancing With The Stars’, Jhalak Dikhlaja, to having recently anchored the
hit ‘IPL Rockstar’ series nationally, Hard Kaur has become an national onscreen darling.
Her success story in India began as she co-wrote a hit single for the Indian gangster underworld flick
‘Johnny Gadar’ alongside the Indian equivalent of triple Grammy award winners Shankar, Ehsaan &
Loy. The record was the most downloaded musical single that year and propelled her into the
limelight. With continued hits including India’s top selling singles from her debut album ‘Supawoman’,
‘Glassy’, Look 4 Me’ and’ Bombay Deewana’, she went on to become one of the most sought after
performers for music in Bollywood blockbusters. Today her discography over the last 2 years includes
over 20 smash hit records as part of movies including ‘Singh Is King’ to ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, ‘Chance
Pe Dance’ to ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ with a number slated for release this year.
Today, Hard Kaur has become one of India’s leading musicians and celebrity with fans across the
nation. The face of Hip Hop in India, Hard Kaur has introduced the musical genre and taken it to
greater heights by giving it a pop sensibility. The genre has quickly been absorbed by India and given
its own unique twist and been used in the biggest Bollywood blockbusters. Culturally also, hip hop is
something that is now known about by Rickshawallas through to housewives, young children through
to business executives. Her ‘real’ voice and no holds barred opinions have garnered her public support
and access to the masses in India.
However this success has not come without real struggle. Born Taran Kaur Dhillon this tri-lingual
songstress’ musical journey began in her birth place of India but, it was her arrival in Birmingham with
not much except what her mother could carry in 1991 that became the door to another world where
her dreams could actually become a reality. Having lost her father in the horrendous Indian riots of
’84, she moved to the UK with her mother and younger brother. Having no English language skills in
her vocabulary, she immersed herself in a different type of universal language that she instantly
connected with, music and went on to meet her first love…Hip Hop.
“I fell in love with Hip-Hop music because it was so real. You could say and be how ever you want and
I’d finally found my voice. I also learnt a lot of English through it.” she explains.
Her career has always been independently funded and her struggle to the top has been fuelled by her
passion for the art. “I was bullied by the Indian kids when I was in school and college because I was a
‘freshie’ and bullied by the other kids because I spoke English with a funny accent”. “When I overcame
that, the reality of being a female in a male dominated industry was becoming clear. I would walk into
studios to be dealt sexist comments and was often offered a chance at the ‘Big Time’ if I were to
befriend certain individuals”. In retaliation, Hard Kaur changed her appearance and shaved her head.
“It shocked so many people but I feel that more people started either to take me more seriously or just
think I was nuts!”
Those weren’t her only troubled times though. Her mother struggled with launching a business to
support her two children but was the victim of a violently abusive partner at whose hands she’d
suffered for years. “It was heartbreaking when I was very young because there was nothing I could
do”. At the age of 15 though, she decided to change the course. My friends had made me into a
stronger person and I was encouraged by them to perform and rap at mc battles and it completely
gave me confidence in speaking out about what I thought. I came home one evening to find my mother
caught in another attack and with injuries. Her cheek had been battered with a tava, an Indian flat pan
which we make chapattis on. I don’t know where I plucked up the courage from but I launched at him
and distracted him and he ran to the police station”. They never saw him again.
Hard Kaur’s mother now has a thriving beauty business that she set up initially from a tiny room in her
home. The salon was the first of its kind on the infamous Soho Road, Birmingham and Hard Kaur
dedicated her debut album ‘Supawoman’ to her real live Super Woman, her mother.
“She has definitely got super powers. She story is extraordinary and a reflection of tales of our people
moving to the UK and becoming successful. After the death of my father in the 1984 riots, she has gone
through so much struggle bringing up my little brother and me as a single parent”.
For the next leg in her journey, Hard Kaur is working on her second, as yet unnamed album due for
release early next year. In the interim she is set to release her new single ‘Desi Dance’ featuring
Eminems band D12. She also made her acting debut alongside an all star cast featuring Akshay
Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia for the movie Patiala House. The film
released early this year and Hard Kaur had two leading records on the soundtrack. She also gave the
biggest hit of the year “Char Baaj Gaye” which is till topping the charts all over.
With the Midas touch in full effect, there is nothing that this British performer can’t touch that doesn’t
turn to gold.
