On may 2024 (so it's passed 6 months...) @belial-pelegrim presented to the world Taffeta 189 which can be found here >> https://soundcloud.com/belial-pelegrim/taffeta-189. A masterfully crafted piece from his unfinished story-driven musical series.
From the very beginning, this track fascinated me to such an extent that a melody immediately appeared in my head. In a burst of self-confidence, I asked the Master for the file of this song so that I could put my melodic ideas into it, just like I did with Donak RV's song https://soundcloud.com/r-u-r-pl/duo-melodica-rur-nylon-guitar-remix. And the strangest thing is, he willingly agreed to my idea!
So I tried it and here we are. It's been a while since then, but I think I've finally finished it. I sincerely hope that you will like the effect of this cooperation.

These are dark dark days and dark dark nights 
Do our best days lie behind us? 
As I made my way on frosted feet 
Would I stumble, would I fall?
I lift my eyes in search of light
Only clouds fill the horizon 
In the dark I see  there no-one near
Is  there nothing to rely on? 

But surely there are better days
The beating of the drum 
Will fade away, the clouds will clear
Are there better worlds and better times and better thing to come?

Then I saw the star
It’s courageous light
Had travelled far 
To be there that night
Pushing through the clouds
‘cross the scudding  sky
A message from afar
And it gave me hope that beyond the night
There’s a blazing sky
That’s filled with light
There are better worlds 
and better lives
And brighter days by far
I remember that one night I saw the star.

So I looked around Though the light was dim
but my eyes grew strong from the fire within
Now I see that there are other’s near
With their eyes ablaze as they conquered fear
And we walked together arm in arm 
As together we would Am feel no harm
Though clouds may still obscure our view
We could feel a future better, bright and new

Late today, I sat down to finish a particular music project, then never got around to it.  A few hours earlier, the news had included a tragic event and it was heavy on my heart.  Sitting at the piano and recalling the day’s events, my thoughts turned to the very old song, “Dona Nobis Pacem” (translated “grant us peace”), and this improvisation was the result. 
 
Originally a prayer from the Agnus Dei section of the Latin mass, “Dona Nobis Pacem” has typically been sung as a round. (My improvised arrangement uses the primary melody from the round. )  Over the years, the song has been published in church hymnals, appeared in popular programming/literature, and used to promote peace during turbulent times.

Today’s world is as turbulent as ever, peace is needed more than ever, and the prayer is as heartfelt as ever…Grant us peace.
