William Arist (William Aristegui) is a DJ, producer, and teacher from Uruguay, with a passion for exploring sound and sharing knowledge. His music blends a heavy, contemporary take on techno, leading to releases on respected labels and support from established artists in the scene.

Over the years, he has collaborated and exchanged with notable figures in the genre and releasing nearly 20 vinyl records and CD along with two LPs, one of them on cassette.

As a DJ, he has chosen to remain discreet, yet his work has still captured the attention of clubs and promoters, leading him to perform across several countries and share the booth with artists such as DVS1, SHDW, Dax J, Ellen Allien, Truncate, Setaoc Mass, Dj Koolt, Vinicius Honorio, Adriana Lopez, PEARL, Marcal, Fadi Mohem, Zisko, among many other renowned names in the techno scene.

Beyond his personal projects, he runs Espacio Sonoro, a music production school that has welcomed students from over 15 countries, and Perseverancia Records, a label that continues to grow thanks to a dedicated community.
He also collaborates with other educational platforms and schools
worldwide.

Currently, he is focused on expanding ARIST, a platform that brings all his projects together within an independent and collaborative ecosystem.

My first contact with music performance was at 8, when i started my classical piano lessons in the renowned ex-Kolischer : María Angélica Piola Conservatory under Nora Damiano tutorship.
In its halls i learnt about the mastery of Chopin, Liszt and Rubinstein, i listened to the fierce pieces of Beethoven being performed by my more advanced peers on a huge black hearse-like Steinway, where my hands used to sweat like sponges on the dreaded examination venues.

When i was maybe 13 or 14 i started to compose some simple piano pieces, fueled by a natural teen angst. I got myself a spanish guitar and a bass, and started to investigate on overdubbing and ping pong recording, using tape equipment, so amazingly cheap it would degrade sound in incredible ways as the ping pong overdub repeated over and over.

But by the time i turned 18 i was well acquainted with the history and reality of a very different instrument : the synthesizer. And i decided i was to buy one of them gadgets. That was the beggining of the end of my classical piano education.
When i got my first synth, a now vintage Casio CZ 5000, i really started to compose exclusively electronic music, because the thing had an onboard sequencer that allowed my to lay down ideas in a very fast and intuitive way.

That, together with a Fostex X-28 multitrack made the trick, and though my mixes still had a lot of hiss, i could grasp for the first time in my life, the whole idea of how to layer things together, how to plan the architecture of a track, what to put where and when.

And basically this way of understanding composing, became my way of working. When i sit in front of a monitor with a blank piano roll or a track view, i think very much in the same way, in terms of tracks and layers coming here and fading out there.

I cannot end this tiny bio without mentioning those who mean a lot to me musically speaking, and from whom i still keep learning days on end :

From Vivaldi, Telemann and Bach i learnt the matemathical beauty of music.
From Beethoven, Liszt, Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikowsky i learnt passion.
From Ligeti, Preisner and Satie i learnt minimal does not equal empty.
From Wendy Carlos and Kraftwerk i learnt the powerful coldness of electronic instruments.
From Yazoo, Depeche Mode and Ultravox i learnt perfect pop.
From The Cure, Dead Can Dance and Bauhaus i learnt tortured souls can fill sadness with chords.
From The Chemical Brothers, Leftfield and Underworld i learnt that clubs can become dancing cathedrals.
From Future Sound of London and Trent Reznor i learnt obscene manipulation and violation of sound.

and last but not least : 
From my fellow electronic musicians and friends, Daniel Anselmi and Al Wars Vogel i learnt how to handle my own oversized ego and become a band frontman.

Canal alfa es un proyecto de música Downtempo inicialmente ideado por William González reconocido internacionalmente por su faceta de productor de música Techno.

Durante cuatro años Canal Alfa se mantuvo como una iniciativa solista habiendo editado el primer disco en formato digital llamado "Synths beats & vibes" y atraído la atención de influencers musicales como Mind Chill habiendo obtenido casi medio millón de reproducciones en Facebook en el video 360° creado para su corte "Just in time".

En 2019 se logra el objetivo de incluir otros músicos al proyecto como los son la vocalista Vic y el bajista Guillermo Cavallaro. En sus presentaciones en vivo también participan músicos invitados al proyecto lo cual le dio un giro importante al mismo acercándolo a la música más orgánica, resultando en un producto formato banda pero sin dejar atrás la fuerte presencia de la música electrónica.
