Fino ad arrivare a primavera inoltrata del 1991, eravamo nel nuovo Peter Pan, l’inizio dell’epoca di “segui la penna” il grande Giorgio de Mitri aveva appena disegnato il nuovo logo del Peter Pan fortemente voluto dal titolare di allora Gianni Nisticò e fu programmato un lancio con molte serate dove il logo (la Penna) cambiava colore e prendeva il colore della bandiera dei djs ospiti in quella serata.
La prima sera fu proprio dedicata ai djs inglesi sempre con l’aiuto di Maurizio Clemente che nel frattempo aveva aperto a Londra proprio un’agenzia di djs assieme all’amico Kid Batchelor con il nome di Caus’n Effect.
Non riuscimmo a portare per problemi di budget: Danny Rampling e Steve Proctor perché oramai erano diventati troppo famosi e furono sostituiti dagli allora quasi sconosciuti Terry Farley, Fabi Paras ed altri però riuscimmo a portare Andy Weatherall 
La serata fu stupenda carichissima chi c’era lo può confermare e dalla consolle fu curioso vedere questi artisti, poi diventati delle icone mondiali, tremare per mettere i dichi perché non erano abituati ai grandi locali, mi dicevano che erano abituati a clubs underground di massimo 300 persone con poche luci.
Andy il dj  più esperto del gruppo metteva i dischi usando degli inizi con effetti in modo da non commettere errori di mixaggio in battuta e trasmise un’energia spaziale, alla fine della sua performance mi regalò una parte dei dischi che aveva messo, dischi che non ho mai suonato a causa della mia cocciutaggine integralista musicale perché li consideravo troppo commerciali, ma li conservo ancora come delle reliquie nelle loro buste di plastica trasparenti con i numeri che Andy ci aveva appiccicato, con grande affetto.
Andy mi piaceva moltissimo come persona era umano ed era un dj sopra le righe con un suo stile inconfondibile e con il tempo è riuscito ad emergere dalla massa degli altri djs e ci è rimasto fino alla fine come pochi altri.
In questi giorni a causa della sua prematura scomparsa tanti parlano di lui e lo elogiano, ma a me farebbe piacere che di queste persone se ne parlasse sempre anche quando sono in vita in modo che possano portare un giusto esempio a chi vuole fare questo percorso in questo mondo musicale meraviglioso che oggi forse non lo è più tanto.

LDS Residents Mix 002 - Rory Cordz

Hot to the mix for edition 002 is longstanding resident and co-curator soundcloud.com/rorycordz, who has carefully helped cultivate the party and collective over the LDS's existence. Determined and driven by collective thinking, recognising that there is power and fun to be had in numbers, he has always had a passion for bringing people together to dance, plan, create and share things. His energy in these areas as well his cheeky grin (and track selections!) are something that gives great value and playfulness to what we do.

Rory has drawn influence from a wide range of genres over the years, experimenting with most forms of dance music from Drum & Bass, Breakbeat, Techno & Various off shoots of House Music. But it was back around the 2009 mark he found a deep appreciation for Disco music and the rhythmic guitar, funky basslines and soulful vocals which paved the way for a lot of the aforementioned genres. 

Now approaching 11 years deep into this love affair, you can still find him playing eclectic sets when not playing as LDS, but one thing is for sure, he knows how to bring that funky magic to the party, this mix selection is exemplary of his appetite for such floor shakers.
