Multi-award-winning artist Matt Cory has built a career on raw passion, relentless drive, and a fearless embrace of his influences. Hailing from Manitoba, Matt has been electrifying audiences since the age of 15, cutting his teeth in Western Manitoba’s diverse music scene, from alternative metal to indie folk. His sound is deeply rooted in the hard-hitting, anthemic energy of Alice in Chains, Joe Satriani, Ozzy Osbourne, and Alice Cooper—icons who shaped his signature blend of powerhouse riffs and emotionally charged melodies.

In 2017, Matt introduced his instrumental rock project, Engines of Creation, releasing four EPs that showcased his technical prowess. By 2018, he stepped into the spotlight as a lead vocalist, covering legends like Stone Temple Pilots, Filter, and Alice in Chains. This experience fueled his solo artistry, culminating in the release of his debut EP, Scars on the Ceiling.
When the pandemic shifted the industry landscape, Matt adapted, turning to TikTok to share daily guitar riffs, steadily building a devoted following. By 2021, he reignited his songwriting career with three dynamic singles: Goodbye (a melodic, electronic-infused song), a reimagined cover of Cheap Trick’s The Flame, and Insomnia, an instrumental homage to Joe Satriani. He also released two visually striking music videos for Goodbye and Concrete Jungle, expanding his reach across streaming platforms.

2022 saw Matt collaborating with former NHL player Ryan White, contributing lead guitar to the theme song for White’s podcast, Whitey’s World. The following year, he dominated Manitoba’s live music scene, playing festivals and high-profile venues across Winnipeg. His 2023 EP, Ghost Rising, featuring the Manitoba Loud Music Awards-nominated single Lit Up and Out of Line, solidified his place as a force in modern rock. That year, Matt earned Guitarist of the Year, Vocalist of the Year, and Rock Band of the Year at the MLMA.

In 2024, Matt took a bold step with his early-‘70s-inspired hard rock EP, Let’s Go Downtown, featuring a music video directed by fellow MLMA winner Travis Anema. The title track was named Song of the Week by Manitoba Music, further cementing Matt’s growing reputation. As the year progressed, he returned to his heavier roots with Runaway (Can’t Hear a Thing), a spine-chilling rock anthem inspired by a haunting real-life experience.

Now, in 2025, Matt is charging forward with Dust, the first single from his highly anticipated ninth EP, Hollow Sun. This release promises to push his artistic boundaries even further, blending heavy, soulful melodies with his signature guitar-driven sound.

As an independent artist, Matt Cory has self-funded every step of his journey—recording, touring, producing music videos, and engaging fans across streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and more. With an impressive track record and an ever-growing fanbase, Matt is now seeking support to take his music to new heights—expanding his reach, elevating production quality, and bringing his explosive live performances to larger audiences.
