Led Zeppelin IV Remastered (Full Album)- by Led Zeppelin

I’ve decided to remaster some albums and tracks that have already been released.  

I import the audio files into the daw and then usually load one or more processors of some kind (vinyl, compressor, desk emulations etc) on the stereo master buss. 

Sometimes I apply some chamber and or hall reverb.

I slowed Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds down a half step to its natural speed as recorded, likewise I sped he’s Leaving Home up a half step, to the same result. 
I edited Within You/Without You in three places, to remove some lyrics which were untrue/naive, here they are,

First verse,

We were talking,
About the space between us all,
And the people who hide themselves,
Behind a wall, 
Of illusion,
Never glimpse the truth,
Then it's far too late,
When they pass away

We were talking,
About the love we all could share,
When we find it,
To try our best to hold it there,

I edited out, we could save the world.

I took out the first chorus,

Try to realise it's all within yourself,
No one else can make you change,
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows on within you and without you

and also the second (last) chorus,

When you've seen beyond yourself then you may find,
Peace of mind is waiting there,
And the time will come when you see we're all one,
And life flows on within you and without you

For the remist I retitled the track from Within You Without You to Within You/Without You.

I decided to include You Know My Name (Look up the number) as the last track. This was recorded over three sessions (in May and June ’67), the first commencing a month after the last recording session for Sgt. Pepper’s. The outro features Brian Jones on alto saxophone.

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Remisted)

I decided to creatively remaster some albums and tracks that have already been released.  

A selection of tracks from Wish You Were Here, 1975

With this remist, I basically wanted to use two alternate versions of two of the tracks (recorded during the sessions, 1975), incorporating them into the album. These two tracks were released on the Wish You Were Here Experience Edition cd, 2011. 

The first is a version of Have A Cigar with Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters singing lead vocals instead of Roy Harper who is guest vocalist on the original release. This alternate version also has an extended guitar solo.

The second is a version of Wish You Were Here which I feel is better in sound and arrangement than the released version, also features Stéphane Grappelli on violin. 

The alternate version of Have A Cigar has a fade out, to silence. In the released version of the album the track decreases rapidly in volume to a washy synth sound towards the end of the track. It’s then put through effects to give the effect of the audio being heard through a car radio. Wish You Were Here then begins also in reduced volume, coming to full level after its intro.
In the intro we can hear someone sniffing (barely audible), the idea being that they’re sitting there listening to the song.

With the outtake track I followed the same idea to a certain extent, including creating a washy synth sound to replicate the original, but when there’s the switch to the radio sound I also put a reverb on the mix to give the effect of a warehouse, i.e. the idea of a worker or workers in a corporate warehouse listening to the track. 
I added samples of radio static and a variating radio frequency sound (replicating the original) from effects on the the moog, through to the intro of Wish You Were Here. 
Towards the end of Wish You Were Here I created some wind sound using the moog, earlier into the track, again following on from the concept in the released album, later allowing the original wind sound to take over where it came in.

I also recorded a sniff (of my own) and some background sounds, replicating the original.

For the remist I retitled tracks,

Four Horsemen (Remix) – FACTORY [Mark II]

La leggendaria Four Horsemen degli Aphrodite’s Child, cavallo di battaglia del genio visionario di Vangelis e dell’inconfondibile voce di Demis Roussos, rivive in una veste nuova, inquieta e potentemente psichedelica grazie ai FACTORY – the MODern Blues Project.
Nella versione Mark II, la band rielabora il brano con audacia e riverenza, stravolgendone l’impianto vocale grazie a Giuliano Dettori, che trasforma il canto in un flusso verbale aggressivo e teatrale, carico di pathos e prosa allucinata. Alla tastiera, Silvio Vinci evoca atmosfere cosmiche con un mellotron spettrale e ipnotico, che avvolge l’ascoltatore come una coltre di nebbia acida.
Davide Spanu si impossessa della chitarra e la lancia oltre i confini del beat, con un solo debordante e torrenziale, tra delay, fuzz e wah psichedelico. Il tutto poggia su una sezione ritmica implacabile: Chris Pain al basso mantiene un groove oscuro e incalzante, mentre Luca Monaco alla batteria alterna dinamiche incantatorie e scariche tribali.
Questa versione si dilata in una lunga cavalcata ipnotica, dove ogni sezione è permeata da dosi eroiche di improvvisazione lisergica, degne del miglior trip anni ’69. Il risultato è un brano allucinogeno e visionario, in bilico tra apocalisse e trance, che rinnova con stile il culto psichedelico mediterraneo.
Una cover che è, a tutti gli effetti, una nuova creazione.
