Lasse Elkjaer is a Los Angeles-based Danish composer, orchestrator, song producer, and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, piano, violin, guitarviol, world percussion, and most exotic stringed guitar instruments, amongst others) with a resume of over 70 films. Elkjaer was recently awarded for his score for the horror movie Sticks (2018), a gothic scare ride where Elkjaer worked with Hollywood cellist Tina Guo, whose cello can be heard on scores by Hans Zimmer, such as The Lion King (2019), X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019), and Dunkirk (2017), and Rupert Gregson-Williams's score for Wonder Woman (2017). 

Since moving to LA in 2013, Elkjaer has worked on movies such as Dead Man Down (2013), Bad Santa 2 (2016), and the Chinese epic block buster Monkey King 2 (2016). Elkjaer’s TV credits include NBC TV series Midnight Texas (2017-2018), and Netflix TV series Lost In Space (2018-). Recent projects include When it Strikes (2019), which had its world premiere at the Nordic International Film Festival in New York, and Viking Blood (2019), a US/DK feature film currently distributed on all major streaming platforms worldwide. 

Elkjaer is also a longtime collaborator of five-time Emmy winning composer Jacob Groth, Dead Man Down (2013), The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009) and Golden Globe-nominated composer Christopher Young, Spiderman 3 (2007), Swordfish (2001), and
Hellraiser (1987). 

The films Elkjaer scored showcase his vast range of expertise, and won awards at the Honolulu Film Festival, Nordic International Film Festival and First Run Film Festival in New York, Tech Doc Film Festival in Seattle, and Filmkraft in Denmark. The Filmkraft award for Sticks (2018, best score) follows 3 wins in 2013, for films that Eljkaer scored. In addition, several of Elkjaer's shorts won first place on Ekko shortlist, a top ten list that represents the best short movies in Denmark. Elkjaer’s work was selected twice for Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival in San Diego.

In addition to his resume of films, Elkjaer has done orchestrations for several international concerts, such as the charity concert Nordic Noir at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Recently, he had his concert music performed by the The Danish Royal Life Guards Marching Band, and by the LA-based ensemble Helix Collective at the Barnsdall Theater in Hollywood (Pulling Back the Curtain, 2019), and he also played guitar on the album Very Merry Rockin' Good Christmas (2018), by The Osmonds.

Upon completion of his Masters in Film Scoring from the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, South Danish Conservatory of Music, Elkjaer moved to Los Angeles to study with Bruce Broughton, Tombstone (1993), and Garry Schyman, Bioshock (2007), amongst many other prolific scoring legends and faculty at the Thornton Screen Scoring Program at the University of Southern California (USC). During his studies at USC, Elkjaer was mentored by Michael Gorfaine, Partner and co-owner of the Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency.

Elkjaer is a Fulbright recipient, and received 12 scholarships from the Danish government while studying at USC. Similarly, Elkjaer was granted Danish funds when he was selected as a participant for the 2018 Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive. The Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive is the brain child between conductors David Newman and Angel Velez, designed to create an opportunity for media composers to further their skills as conductors.

2019 has been a very prolific year for Lasse Eljkaer, who added two scores to his film credit list, and was selected as winning composer for the Live Score Music Festival in Los Angeles. Elkjaer’s work for Sticks (2018) was selected for the Fulbright Film Festival at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. Elkjaer is currently working on releasing his back catalog of film scores, and has just completed music for an educational animation series with tens of millions of viewers worldwide (to be announced - end of 2019).
