RE:BIRTH’s lead single “Shadow” was written about Lauren’s own personal shadow-work, a process of deep reflection and commitment to self-awareness to get to know the parts of oneself that often subconsciously lurk in the shadows of our minds. Sonically, the album’s first single is an expansive arrangement juxtaposed between a dynamic percussive profile and innovative synthesis, next-generation melodic techno. With entrancing vocals masterfully sewn into the captivating analog sounds and soul of the track, “Shadow” is a brooding introduction and strong first single that lays the groundwork for the poignant body of work that is Lauren Mia’s RE:BIRTH.

01. Lauren Mia - Ashes in Paradise (Original Mix)

Personal words about this song: 
Ashes in Paradise is a song I created to illustrate my perspective on the essence of duality. I tried to tell the story of my personal experience of understanding and accepting the duality of which our entire reality and existence is built on, “Ashes in Paradise” is one of the album’s most vibrant songs. I explore the contrast between darkness and light, destruction and creation, and ultimately - death and rebirth. Discovering that darkness is only where light is absent and fully understanding that and integrating that into my perspective and approach on daily life. I composed these melodies while in a creative flow-state and incorporated intentional elements that could subtly symbolize and remind us of the ancient-ness of our humanity, the organic-ness (which I usually try to stay away from using the word organic loll) but it really is just that. The real -ness. I tried to capture that with my story telling but also allowed for it literally on a sonic level to not be absolutely perfect (which was hard,) but perfectly imperfect. Just as we are. The instruments used were intentional, shakers, the shofar (sound of renewal), similar to the Shell Horn I used in my last single ‘Ceremony’ which derives from Mayan culture but also Hinduism and Buddhism as well - I have always been captivated by the fact that all cultures around the world, religions, denominations, have profound similarities in sacred elements used in ceremonial spaces or during sacred days “holy-day” hence the word “holiday”, the horn being a sound for renewal is just one example, but also,  water. That’s also why I incorporated water as an element in the last single too. Water is sacred in so many religions and cultures. The Ganges river in India, being a place for purification, similar to baptizing, or mikvas. See…Patterns. Truth. Now let’s think about the human voice. No instrument or software or digital synth or even AI can capture the true essence and beauty of the REAL human voice, and sure people can argue that today because there are technologies that are replicating vocal chords and generating sounds and what have you, but in my opinion, it cannot be replicated in its entirety. That’s the realness and the “organic-ness” and raw-ness I was talking about. ‘Ashes in Paradise’ plays homage to the cultural roots of our ancestors who’ve walked this earth before us. We are all of the same race, the human race. We are one. This whole album is weaved with references from so many different cultures around our whole world, with textured, analog soundscapes and deep and powerful intention from my heart to yours. This is my final single I’m sharing before my album comes out in full.
