Since his teens, Cobeia's been an avid listener collecting music on Vinyl, CDs, MDs, Tapes & Digital. Growing up in a multicultural family & environment in Geneva, he lived in London from 96 to 99 before regular stays in Berlin in the '00s. He's been passionately exploring the underground roaming alternative scenes. Since 2001 he's been a DJ, a cultural actor & promoter.

Among other journeys, he traveled extensively throughout Eastern Europe, North & East Africa, and Southeast Asia, further expanding his music appreciation.

2001 - 06: Part of a collective, Cobeia ran the wonderful alternative art space DUPLEX in Geneva, where he booked electronic & folk-rock live acts: SO (Oval), Hermann Düne, Julie Doiron, Goodiepal, @planningtorock, @modeselektor... & DJs of various genres, while also working in 2003 & 04 at FORDE Art Space.

The TB-303 (short for "Transistorized Bass") was originally marketed to guitarists for bass accompaniment while practicing alone. Production lasted approximately 18 months, resulting in only 10,000 units. It was not until the mid- to late-1980s that DJs and electronic musicians in Chicago found a use for the machine in the context of the newly developing house music genre. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, as new Acid styles emerged, the TB-303 was often overdriven, producing a harsher liquid acid-like sound. Examples of this technique include Charanjit Singh's 1982 Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat,[1] Phuture's 1987 "Acid Tracks" (sometimes known as "Acid Trax"), Hardfloor's 1992 EP "Acperience" and Interlect 3000's 1993 EP "Volcano". Two simple patterns on the Roland TB-303 Bass Synthesiser. The second pattern has had the filter EG attack level altered. In other instances the TB-303 was extremely distorted and processed, such as Josh Wink's 1995 hit "Higher State of Consciousness". The well-known "acid" sound is typically produced by playing a repeating note pattern on the TB-303, while altering the filter's cutoff frequency, resonance, and envelope modulation. The TB-303's accent control modifies a note's volume, filter resonance, and envelope modulation, allowing further variations in timbre. A distortion effect, either by using a guitar effects pedal or overdriving the input of an audio mixer, is commonly used to give the TB-303 a denser, noisier timbre—as the resulting sound is much richer in harmonics. The head designer of the TB-303, Tadao Kikumoto, was also responsible for leading design of the TR-909 drum machine. In 2011, The Guardian listed the 1981 release of the TB-303 as one of the 50 key events in the history of dance music.[2] The TB-303 has a single audio oscillator, which may be configured to produce either a sawtooth wave or a square wave. The square wave is derived from the sawtooth waveform using a simple, single-transistor waveshaping circuit.[3] This produces a sound that is subtly different from the square waveform created by the dedicated hardware found in most analog synthesizers. It also includes a simple envelope generator, with a decay control only. A lowpass filter is also included, with -24dB per octave attenuation, and controls for cutoff frequency, resonance, and envelope modulation parameters. It is a common misconception that the filter is a 3 pole 18dB per octave design when in fact it is 4-pole 24dB per octave.[4] The TB-303 sequencer has some unique features that contribute to its characteristic sound. During the programming of a sequence, the user can determine whether a note should be accented, and whether it should employ portamento, a smooth transition to the following note. The portamento circuitry employs a fixed slide time, meaning that whatever the interval between notes, the time taken to reach the correct pitch is always the same. The accent circuitry, as well as increasing the amplitude of a note, also emphasizes the EG filter's cutoff and resonance, resulting in a distinctive, hollow "wow" sound at higher resonance settings. Roland referred to this as "gimmick" circuitry.[5] The instrument also features a 'simple' step-time method for entering note data into the 16-step programmable sequencer. This was notoriously difficult to use, and would often result in entering a different sequence than the one that had been intended. Some users also take advantage of a low voltage failure mode, wherein patterns that are programmed in memory get completely scrambled if the batteries are removed for a time. There have been many modifications designed for the TB-303 such as the "Devilfish", "Acidlab" and "Borg" modifications. These generally provide additional parameters to the player, or offer alterations to the overall timbre.

InterFuse is THE Midwest Regional Burn - a yearly camping event that takes place in May. The goal of InterFuse is to unite in the celebration of art, fire, and life. We build a temporary city of tents, domes, light, dance, fire and music, revel in our community for the duration of the event, and then pack everything out while leaving no trace. 

Interfuse has a reputation for its crummy weather. Torrential downpours for days resulting in “Mudderfuse.” Gale force winds brought us “Hurricane Shaniqua” which destroyed entire camps and large infrastructure in a matter of minutes. Then of course, there was that year that it snowed. Yes, SNOWED! Heck, there were even a couple years where the sun actually shined on us! Nature is a force to be reckoned with, and so are we. This year, instead of going head-to-head, we’ll join forces! In 2015 we will give nature her due! The honor and respect and revelry she deserves. Our burn forecast prediction is awesome with a chance of shit-storm. You can expect low pressure fun and high pressure parking enforcement. There will no doubt be a tidal wave of creativity, so be sure to dress accordingly! There is definitely a chance of a popup snow/lighting/thunder/hail storm, so don’t forget to pack your umbrella! Severe storms can produce dangerously large hail or high winds capable of causing significant damage, and can lead to flash flooding and mudslides. I’d like my mudslide with extra Kahlua please! In the event of a natural disaster such as a tornado, earthquake, hurricane or volcano eruption….you’re screwed. Hope you brought condoms! This is not a test, but you have been warned! You should practice radical self reliance and be prepared for every possible act of nature. Join us as we celebrate forces of nature! Bring us your art and your creativity. My deep sensibility and this urgent need to express it might be due to my
sweet and romantic childhood, a boyhood not only shrouded in music but also in the luscious smells coming from the kitchen, where my mum used to hum some Edith Piaf’s or Jacques Brel’s songs.
I also remember my sister mimicking the 1970s rock stars, a hairbrush in her hand, or my brother’s lyrical comments on the early 1980s New Wave or Cold Wave bands such as Joy Division or The Cure. Then, I came of age, got my driving licence and my first car just as house music and techno music were emerging. In those days , there were lots of nightclubs in Belgium, just across the boarder, and their DJs played very groovy, electronic dance music, so I took to spending nights in those clubs, my blood literally getting contaminated by electronic music little by little. The discovery of new , different sounds made me realize how important electronic music was for me. These moments of pure joy , renewed again and again,were unknown pleasures to me. All this explains why, since the early 90s, I’ve been spend in’ all my spare time listening to electronic music, looking for rarities in music shops or on the internet, buying hundreds of vinyl’s on flea-markets.
I had to find a way to let this inner volcano erupt, so I bought a computer and a sampler and that was the beginning of an addiction which will never leave me, I think. It’s a bit like falling in love, you feel over the moon, invincible, and you are ready to devote your entire life to that love, coz you believe in it.

From the first moment The Sunset Kids sat down together with a keyboard and a guitar, the music clicked. There were no growing pains, no creative struggles — just pure musical chemistry.

The duo’s alchemical electro-pop collaboration began with a humble recording session: Canadian singer-guitarist Josh Palmer runs his own studio, and Russian-born songwriter Ellaya Zampieri stopped by to lay down one of her own tunes. “As soon as Ellaya showed up at my studio and played piano, I was just blown away instantly,” Josh remembers. “I could tell that there was a musical bond. That kind of thing either happens or it doesn’t — it’s like magic.”
Almost immediately, they began working on original material, and the songs poured out of them. Blending the blissful electronic blur of ‘80s dream pop with the giddy rush of modern folk rock, they instinctively developed a unique hybrid sound that overflows with catchy choruses and heart-on-sleeve emotions.

“I was born in Siberia and I grew up listening and singing Slavic folk songs,” Ellaya explains. “So, when we play electronic pop, it still has some folk elements.”

The duo’s debut album is Volcano, a rapturous outpouring of intensely personal lyrics and humble hooks. The 10 tracks range from towering pop anthems (“Ocean Clear,” “Brave”, “I Wanna Be”) to heart-swelling acoustic reveries (“Volcano,” “Atmosphere”) to dreamy, cinematic new wave (“Fantasy,” “Kingdom”).

Each new stylistic direction is tied together by The Sunset Kids self-production, the propulsive rhythms from guest drummer Ali Siadat (Mother Mother), and the duo’s note-perfect duet vocals. “It feels phenomenal when we sing together,” says Ellaya. “I just feel such a synchronicity — that’s the most beautiful part of singing a harmony with someone.”

Their once-in-a-lifetime musical connection shines through whenever Josh and Ellaya sing together. It’s a strange and wonderful twist of fate that brought together a producer from Canada and a songwriter from Siberia, so The Sunset Kids are making the most of every second of it.
