Longing

Welcome to my 1st collab with Achazia, when I heard her composition I fell in love with it immediately, and I heard so many extra (new) instruments in my head I could add to it while I was listening.
So I asked Achazia if I could give it another try to rebuild her beauty with separate instruments layering them up instead of using volumes, that way I gave myself more freedom to work with the velocities she used.
I kept Achazia’s drums and Hasapi sounds as they were, and remastered Achazia's vocal tracks, then rebuild all the other instruments as separate tracks, so I could layer them into the orchestral sound I wanted to accomplish, then I made sure that the voices and choirs could fit in the harmonies I already created, and gave the production the Celtic / NewAge / Ambient feel I wanted it be.

While I was building up this song, memories went through my head of my experiences living among the Indians, and when they explained me what Sacred Winds means to them, in their spiritual world.
I’ve tried to express my own meaning of what it means to me, as to me each different touch or velocity I am giving to each instrument, means another word, another feel or another emotion, while I am playing, I express myself so that everybody can fill in their own stories or feelings.
While I was working on this song, it gave me peace of mind, and it relaxed me from deep inside, so to me that’s what this Sacred Winds means to me, as a sort of re-insurance from the spirits of the past that everything is alright.  

I was happy to hear that Achazia loved what I’ve done with her composition, and of course I hope you do too.

Achazia’s own words / description for her composition:

The song was initially written with a month ago. It is a little hard to describe my music, but I like to say it is a mix of ambient and sounds cape music. My first priority is to create a feeling and a mood in the song, I tend to write much that hopefully leaves the listener with thoughts and good feelings afterwards. It is not randomly how I write my lyrics according to the music, I want it to have a certain purposes.

Sacred Winds is one of the few instrumentals I have made, I have kept the melancholy in the song, but this time I tried to make the song more symphonic. Initially I wrote it for a fantasy Radio show, as they asked me to contribute to a project there. But the song turned a little bit different than I truly wanted, so when this project came up I thought it would suit perfectly for that. It is suppose to be a relaxing and dreamy music that hopefully can be of joy for the once that listen to it. I happily will donate this song to this good cause and if someone get happy by listen to it, then is more than enough rewards for me :)

The cult of Multi Culti expands it’s horizons to include Nicola Cruz, backed by remixes from Xanga and L_cio.

Nicola Cruz’s music beautifully invokes the landscapes and rituals of his homeland, Ecuador, a country that contains both the majestic Andes mountains and the mighty Amazon jungle.  His sound is an amalgamation of folkloric traditions and ancestral mythologies, crafted with fine detail and slick production techniques.

In 2012 Nicola collaborated with Nicolas Jaar on Clown & Sunset, and has since worked towards his debut album on ZZK Records.
Between past and present, traditional and modern, Nicola fits into a growing scene of South American artists exploring local indigenous and Afro-cosmologies, among fellow artists and ZZK label-mates like Chancha Via Circuito.

For his debut on Multi Culti, Nicola has created Mantis, and it is arguably his most accomplished club record to date, a 105bpm tribal chugger that flexes shamanic authority over hearts and minds. Invocacion goes even deeper into the new, new age, presenting traditional instrumentation and mysticism in a modern framework. Australia’s Xanga joins in with a super lively, rhythmic remix that is as joyful as it is deep. Finally, Brazil’s L_cio presents a version that strips things down for club play, upping the tempo while keeping the characteristic flavour of the flute.

Nicola Cruz - Invocacion

A fun experiment making a track using *only* my (new!) ukulele as source material, but liberally processing ukulele sounds as needed to make all of the different parts... except for the thing that sounds like a flute-like instrument (that is my voice pitch-shifted and formant-shifted with Melodyne).  Oh... also I used my voice as a vocoder modulator for a synth-like pad sound based on ukulele loaded into sampler.
