The Raptor Trail has been slowly and quietly plotting its course over the last 25 years. Founding members John Meyer and Matthew Mayes had been kicking around the idea of recording something together for decades. Finally in 2014, the planets aligned and the idea actually transcended into a studio recording project which later came to be called The Raptor Trail. The Raptor Trail was actually the first song that Meyer and Mayes wrote together for the project, and it snowballed from there, with “Gravity x Ten” following, and then ten more songs over the course of the next year.
Considering the musical backgrounds of Meyer and Mayes, one might not think the styles would mesh. Meyer coming from a harder edged, heavier guitar style; highlighted by the fact that he tunes his guitar to a “D” tuning (and no – not a normal D tuning), and Mayes coming from more of a progressive bluegrass, jamrock background; highlighted by an instrument called a Guijo ( Half Strat, Half Banjo, tuned in open G). But in reality, quite the opposite occurred. Not only did the styles mesh, but their melodic interplay and vast, yet different, musical
influences pushed one another out of their respective comfort zones. The result was the creation of some extremely prolific, diverse, and conviction-fused progressive rock music ever heard (if you had to put a tag on it).
Before the project could be completed however, there was needed one addition. Gene Bass, long time musical companion with Meyer and Mayes, was brought on to play all drums and percussion. Gene and John grew up together in Macon, Ga., playing in a number of bands together starting back in 1980. Adding to this storied history is the fact that Mayes and Bass played together for 12 years in pioneer Jamrock band Jupiter Coyote. Adding yet more history to the story is the fact that Meyer and Mayes were roommates back in those days and Meyer was actually the first sound man in that band. Meyer is also the person that came up with the name Jupiter Coyote.
So the evolving path that has lead to The Raptor Trail has taken many turns and twists over the years. But, it has somehow reunited a great and long lasting friendship between three individuals who share a unique musical chemistry and history. The music has largely been recorded in each member’s home studio. Then, simply passing the files back and forth over the internet and ultimately back to Meyer who has been the mastermind behind the production and
mixing.
The self titled album will be released in digital format May 19th through Red Eye World Wide distribution. Physical CDs will be available through CD Baby June 1st, and the audio CDs will feature alternate mixes as well as a bonus track.

The record label Kscope was created in May 2008 to provide a home for the growing post-progressive genre and an evolving, flexible and adventurous style of music without boundaries.

In recent years, a growing movement of bands has started to reclaim and reinvent aspects of the progressive, post-punk and post-rock genres, re-establishing a desire to experiment with eclectic musical sources and state of the art widescreen sonic possibilities. UK Medieval Space rock Pioneers, Gandalf’s Fist have just announced their 7th Album, 2-CD "prologue" to their 2016 conceptual 3-CD epic, featuring an array of guest musicians and professional actors, however their musical journey started some 11 years before…

Formed at a nightclub in 2005 when a mutual friend invented a silly band name to try and impress a geeky girl, Gandalf’s Fist was formed as the creative collaboration between multi-instrumentalist Dean Marsh and lyricist/vocalist Luke Severn.

Gandalf's Fist draw on their mutual love for classic Prog bands such as Pink Floyd and King Crimson as well as influences from the NWOBHM scene including bands like Iron Maiden. Early on, the band became increasingly captivated by bands in the resurgent neo-prog scene such as Porcupine Tree, they were inspired to try and forge their own musical identity, creating music that, whilst not appealing to the masses, (and certainly not their neighbours) was the kind of music that they, themselves, wanted to hear.

After successful releases of the LPs "Road to Darkness" and "From a Point of Existence", winning widespread acclaim for their mix of Neo-Prog, Folk and Hard Rock, Dean moved the Fist’s recording studio permanently from West Cumbria to South Norfolk whereby Gandalf's Fist released their space-rock opus:‘ A Day in the Life of a Universal Wanderer’.

The record, seemingly transmitted from a derelict space station in the far reaches of the galaxy using instruments salvaged, is a cosmic jam across space and time exploring a mythical figure from the 26th Century – ‘The Universal Wanderer’ - who’s legend tells of a figure who has wandered the cosmos from the birth of existence to the end of time.

Following the widespread recognition the record received from national publications such as Classic Rock, Prog, Fireworks and Powerplay magazines, as well as Planet Rock and Team Rock Radio, Gandalf's Fist appeared on the bill at Planet Rockstock '13 alongside the likes of Fish, Hawkwind and Uriah Heep.

Following the performance, touring musicians Stefan Hepe and Chris Ewen were promoted to full-time band members as the medieval-space-rock-pioneers recorded and released their fifth, full-length studio release "A Forest of Fey" - an album which also featured guest contributions from high profile musicians such as Troy Donockley (Nightwish), Clive Nolan (Pendragon), John Mitchell (Arena/Lonely Robot/It Bites), Dave Oberle' (Gryphon) and Matt Stevens (The Fierce and the Dead).

The album received a great reception and was named “3rd Best Progressive Rock Album of 2014” by Classic Rock Magazine UK. All of that, however, has been dwarfed by their latest release: ‘The Clockwork Fable”.
The 3-CD conceptual tour-de-force is described as a “Prog-Rock-Mind-Movie” by the band and features Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), Blaze Bailey (Ex-Iron Maiden) as well as some returning guests from  2014’s A Forest of Fey!

Set in the fictional world of “Cogtopolis”, each CD of the record serves as a different “act” of the story, with Dean and Luke, along with to-be-announced guest vocalists, providing the singing voices of the inhabitants. However things don’t end there; the characters are also brought to life by a 50-page script that has been professionally recorded by a range of hugely talented actors, including Mark Benton (Early Doors/Waterloo Road) and Zach Galligan (Gremlins), amongst others!


in 2017, Following from successful live performances headlining the second stage at HRH Prog and performing their own headline theatre shows, the band were pleased to announce both touring musicians, Ben Bell (Keys) and Keri Farish (Vocals) as full time members.

As Gandalf’s Fist’s reputation continues to grow within the Prog-Rock scene it is difficult to imagine what the future holds for this merry collection of musical adventurers, but what is certain is that it will be well worth sticking around to find out!

The story of The Rube Goldberg Machine is a chain reaction of cause and effect. Elliot and Jordan met while touring Europe with Australian folk rockers The Wishing Well. They get along well, they love Music, they start putting the first gears and screws in the Machine. Back to London they start writing the material that'll become "Fragile Times", the debut album. During a two year long process they flesh out ideas, write and arrange fifteen tunes, then scrap seven of them, because as with any other Machine, every single piece has to be perfectly engineered. They hire a studio and start tracking drums, courtesy of London studio ace Owen Martin (Suzi Quatro) ; the sessions are engineered and directed by Mr. Nick Trepka. Daniel and Jordan meet each other while working for another band. They start collaborating on some Music together and again, the stars align and the third perfect piece is in place. Daniel is a gifted multi instrumentalist (of Crawlspace fame) and an outstanding producer / engineer . The Machine grows bigger and mightier and Daniel takes place in the producer' s seat for all the following studio sessions.
The result is a collection of diverse, dynamic, exciting songs. Elliot's politically and environmentally conscious lyrics complement Jordan's views on the nature of relationships.
