The most overlooked, yet absolutely vital, figure in dance music is the resident. This is the DJ that sets the tone, delivers when the guests are off colour, and knows the music that defines what the club is about in any situation. Quite simply they are essential, and they don't come much better at their craft than Circus's Scott Lewis.

DJing since 1997, it was after a decade of plugging away on the North West scene he became resident at both Circus and Chibuku's afterparties, a follow on from winning the iDJ Raw Talent competition, with iDJ calling the mix, “...an hour of the type of mean and jacking techno, electro, acid and dirty house that strobes and sweaty cellars are made for”, with particular praise coming from judge, Nic Fanciulli.

His ability to keep the groove bubbling for those who wanted to carry on the party made him a firm favourite with the club's more hedonistically inclined regulars, and it was only a matter of time that he was established as resident at Circus proper - quickly earning the respect and trust of the night's figurehead, Yousef. Since then, he's played for the club in every room at all of their frequent venues in Liverpool - Camp & Furnace, Nation and their spiritual home of the Arts Club. He's been present for their team ups with vIVA Warriors, Cocoon, Elrow and many more, and represented them at the Warehouse Project, Exit Festival and at the very special Radio 1 500th Essential Mix show. If you've ever made the pilgrimage to a Circus event, chances are Scott Lewis will have provided the soundtrack for you losing yourself in the rave at some point through the night.

Over the years he's shared stages with the great and the good of the dance music industry, warming up for and playing alongside Loco Dice, The Martinez Brothers, Laurent Garnier, Eats Everything, Seth Troxler, Richie Hawtin and countless others, as well playing back to back with some of the biggest names in dance music at the Circus afterparties. It's in that latter realm where he's arguably at his best, being able to adapt his sound in an instant to whichever DJ fancies playing, or holding court to a rapturous crowd by himself for the whole night. You don't get trusted with such a high profile task for so long if you can't bring the heat.

That versatility spans into his style, where he covers the full spectrum of house music. He's adept at gently increasing the tempo and creating the atmosphere through deeper shades earlier on, able to build and hold energy in the room ready for release, but don't think he is just some warm up DJ; he’s frequently tasked with bringing the party at peak time, cavorting through tougher, acid-flecked grooves and heavier beats to full rooms, all the while maintaining a delirious command of the groove.

Naturally the next step has been in the studio, with the off kilter carnival flavoured banger 'Mara', released on Under No Illusion Recordings last year, a classic example of the kind of wild tech house that makes so much sense at Circus. More releases are scheduled in 2017 on Natural Rhythm and New Violence Records, but his natural habitat continues to be behind the booth - an arena where he has delivered the goods for so many years as a driving component of one of the UK's most fondly regarded club nights. Scott Lewis continues to be the perfect embodiment of a modern DJ.

Originally formed in 1999 by Guy McKnight (vocals), Andy Huxley (lead guitar), Marc R Norris (rhythm guitar), Symren 'Sym' Gharial (bass), and Tom Diamantopoulo (drums) the band were known for their large black car with flames on each side. The band themselves refer to the car as The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. The band's brand of gothic tinged heavy, psychedelic rock has been referred to as both Psychobilly and Gothabilly although the band themselves refer to their sound as 'Psychosis Rock'.

Although renowned for their intense live shows, the band have released three full-length albums, Horse of the Dog in 2002, The Royal Society in 2004 and Blood & Fire in 2010. The band have released eight singles on various formats, each release has had several b-sides included and so the band have a large amount of songs that cannot be found on their albums. All of the band's releases have been through their own record label No Death Records. The only other band signed to No Death Records were a little known band from New York named The Boogs. The Boogs' only release was a single entitled 'Palomino's Dream', released as a shared double A-side with The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster's fourth single 'Chicken'. A video was also made for 'Palomino's Dream' featuring The Boogs in their native New York and also playing a gig in a small venue in which The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster can be seen as heckling audience members.

Their single 'Mister Mental' from The Royal Society was featured on the soundtrack to the film Shaun of the Dead, the movie also contained posters and other references to the band. The band's music has also been used in a number of other TV shows, computer games and commercials and most notably of late in the current Nike football commercial to accompany the UEFA Euro 2012.

The band have played at both The Glastonbury Festival and The Reading and Leeds Festivals for several years running. They have also toured and supported many mainstream bands, including System of a Down, Placebo, Murderdolls, Queens of the Stone Age and Scars on Broadway.

Tony and Michele Burdo are a husband and wife musical duo that have performed and shared the stage with many people in the Christian Music Industry including: Randy Stonehill, Steve Camp, Phil Driscoll, Phil Keaggy, Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Paul Baloche, Ron Kenoly, the Newsboys, Delirious, and many others. Tony and Michele Burdo are published songwriters with BMI that have had the opportunity to record and perform their songs throughout the United States. They have fronted their own bands Burdeaux (I & II), co-led with Beyond the Veil, and worked as sidemen in the Power of God band. Michele has also shared her rich and soaring vocals with other people’s projects and Tony has provided his many varied guitar styles to other projects and artists as well. Tony and Michele currently perform as a Guitarist/Vocalist Duo where the live audience will experience their unique blend of improvised guitar loops and vocals placed within their songs. Tony and Michele are not limited to one particular musical genre, but have chosen to write and record Christian Faith-Based lyrical songs that feature Finger-Style Acoustic Guitar or an Electric Jazz-Rock Guitar approach. Their latest cd release, ‘Encircling’on BurdSong Records, captures this for the listener to enjoy.

In 2007, having been playing drums since he was 15, Andrew went on to be in a worship band called Faded Line with some of his close friends. He left the band in 2010 to pursue other projects. Andrew was then approached in the middle of October 2011 to do an audition with the band Rekoncyle. After the audition the band brought him in as their new drummer. In the spring of 2013, Andrew decided to step down from the band to create his own band that has yet to take shape and that focuses on worship and CCM (Contemporary Christian Music). Andrew attended Atlantica Centre For The Arts to develop his skills in music production and the recording industry. His musical influences are mainly in the Rock and Pop genres of music with artists he currently is influenced by are Switchfoot, Kristian Stanfill, Chris Tomlin, Tim Hughes, Jennifer Ledger, Delirious, Matt Redman, Owl City, Paul Colman, Jars of Clay, Jeremy Camp. Some venues that he has played at are: The Quispamsis Arts & Culture, The King Square Bandstand, Circle Square Ranch and various churches in Saint John and the KV.
