JOE MCKEE
The Darling Ranges lie about 35 km's south of Perth. The drive is mostly highway, fairly droll until you start actually ascending the hills themselves, at which point great dips and troughs reveal themselves and the whole region takes on a strange arid quality. The area was on fire for about 4 days in early 2011. Joe Mckee grew up in these hills and, after 4 years under the spell of London, he returned to them. Burning Boy is his debut album.
Joe's previous outfit, Snowman, were significant. They released 2 albums out of Perth - 2006's self titled effort and 2009's violent masterpiece The Horse, The Rat & The Swan. Praise, wide ranging and effusive, came from all corners of the globe. Victory laps beckoned. Stumps were upped and the gang of four headed to London, basing themselves out of a small flat above a cafe in Walthamstow. They pieced together Absence – a magnificent pulsing, wash of a record that would become their parting salvo. Two of them moved to Iceland child in tow, another firmly folded into the arms of Cambridge. Joe, always spinning in his own orbit, landed back in Perth with a collection of songs inspired by this process, by home, by London and by the catharsis involved in returning to a place you've tried so long to forget.
Burning Boy itself is a bold shift for McKee. Gone is the pulsing rhythm section so often omnipresent in his work, replaced by a breathy and somewhat unexpected baritone. Cuts like Open Mine, a loose mediation on Western Australia's recent gold rush, and the brooding title track show a vulnerability and lyrical dexterity seen for the first time here.
Recorded with long-time collaborator Dave Parkin, these 10 tracks move together as an exhilarating whole, acting as a timely reminder of McKee's reputation as one of Australia's finest left field composers. Burning Boy adds a few new strings to the bow though. Once you become immersed in it's gorgeous swells and poignant imagery it becomes immediately obvious that in all the coming, going, leaving and returning; that Joe Mckee has, at least for now, found a melodic home.

Johns Wolff’s name and reputation currently reach far outside of his home habitat and initial area where he grew up. Multiple performances in places such as Oslo and techno heaven Berlin represent some of the places the Wolff has roamed and caused havoc. During his sets he releases a mixture of emotions amongst the people on the dancefloor. His style…? Well listen and judge for yourself, expect a mix of deep, raw tones in combinations with heart warming, melodic grooves.

John Wolff has been much inspired and educated by Gregor Thresher, a one of a kind techno hero from Frankfurt, Germany. This eventually led to a back2back performance at the renowned Amsterdam club Studio80 as well as at the biggest and oldest festival in the Netherlands: Mysteryland. 
Besides ID&T a number of smaller organizations such as Shoeless, Pleinvrees, Straf_Werk, Apenkooi and Schmeck Pony have also booked and become familiar with the style and sound of the Wolff.

More recently John Wolff has taken up organizing parties himself, events such as Interval and John’s Wolffpack currently rock the scene. Furthermore he is devoting his time to studio work and producing his first tracks, from what you’ll soon hear more ;-)!

Me, Myself and Rye is an amalgam of The Russian Futurists’ hottest songs assembled from their three previous albums, all digitally remastered.

The Russian Futurists international profile saw them become UK-label mates with The Go! Team and The Pipettes, spawned a whirlwind experience that put them on a UK tour with Peter, Bjorn &amp; John, North American dates with long time friends Caribou and Junior Boys and playing to 10000 fans at the Mada Festival in Brazil, while receiving acclaim and praise from the likes of NME, Clash, Time Out London, BBC, and X-FM. All the while producer-songwriter-singer extraordinaire Matthew Adam Hart has been remixing the new Shout Out Louds (Merge Records) single “Tonight I Have To Leave It” and the Stars (Arts &amp; Crafts) “The First Five Times”.

Surprisingly, Hart’s roots as a producer and arranger lie not in Pop. “I was a compulsive Hip Hop producer from age 13 to 19,” he admits, “and would finish a completed Hip Hop track, from start to finish, every day after school.”

This interest is still evident in the Russian Futurists’ electronic rhythms, but a passion for the Pop music of his childhood (Abbey Road was a prominent obsession) is the heart of The Russian Futurists. “When I eventually began to try to make music other than beats it wasn’t my intention to make Pop. It just came out. I felt I was being stifled by Hip Hop and wanted to experiment with melody.”

Big beats, sad songs and sugary melodies have rarely sounded as good together in music as the opening of Let’s Get Ready To Crumble: “I do pop ’cause that’s what my heart goes/I don’t call it art, no sir/That denotes that when I wrote it I had other motives.” "Paul Simon" sounds so effervescent, and Hart's boyish voice nestles so snuggly amidst its econo-pop score, that only a consultation with the CD booklet reveals the mournful confession: "You're my first pint, on the worst nights/My gut knots up, my heart bursts like a piñata pops/This has gotta stop."

This honesty shines through in all of The Russian Futurists’ songs – all the more remarkable for them having been recorded in Matthew Hart’s bedroom (Hart cheekily describes his sound as a result of “trying to
make all of my songs huge, ambitious productions on very limiting and awful equipment.”)

Hart constructs his songs under the ongoing influence of Phil Spector, Brian Wilson (“He showed me that Pop was able to be listenable and experimental at the same time”), Fleetwood Mac (“They taught me how to be dramatic, plus I just love their music”), and the comforting
simplicity of AM Radio. Of the latter, Hart says, “I would like to end up on AM when I’m old and grey. There are some songs that were produced to sound like they belonged there. I used to sit up at night and drink a bottle of red wine and listen to AM to get inspired. My roommates used to think I was kind of a weirdo when they would walk into my room at 2 am and find me drunk listening to ‘Buttons &amp; Bows.’”

With a refreshing blend of "Folk" and "Dream Pop", Vaness is an exciting young artist hailing from Porto Alegre, Brazil. Whether it is through having her music video for "Shooting Star" featured at Coldplay's website, or singing in small cafes in the West Greenwich Village in NYC, Vaness is garnering a following for her work.
In 2011, the singer/songwriter caught the attention of Leo Henkin, a music producer and lead guitarist of Papas da Lingua. Since then, Vaness` songs were featured in a series of Brazilian movies and web series. Her song "I Don`t Belong Here" was part of the soundtrack for feature film "Insonia", directed by Beto Souza.  Through all of this, she has continued to write new songs and play at local venues. 
In 2012, Vaness released her first music video for "Shooting Star", recorded and shot at Soma Studios, which has placed the singer in a much-deserved spotlight. And by the end of 2014, Vaness signed with the label of the same studio, and is now working on her first EP. 
Vaness’ inspirations lie in dreams, autumn, Miyazaki movies, warm and cozy places; rendering a sound that is melodic, sweet and catchy; almost like a dream.


Last July are a UK based Dark Romantic band with a sound derived from a wide breadth of influences including Goth, New Romantic and Rock. Their songs tell stories of emotion and sorrow; though far from morbid their music remains upbeat with an optimistic edge. Passionate about performing live, they blend dark atmospheres with driving guitars and strong melodic vocals.

 Initially formed as a two-piece, Last July quickly gathered a following after playing to a packed audience at the Resolution Hotel during Whitby Goth Weekend in 2009. Releasing their début EP the following year, they received welcoming reviews and gained airplay on internet radio. In 2011 Last July embarked on a new chapter with the addition of guitarist Nevla (ex-Rome Burns/All living Fear) to further expand their sound. After a string of successful gigs and festival appearances the band turned their attention to recording their first full-length album, 'A True Story of a Lie' was released the following year to critical acclaim. Now frequenting bigger stages the band saw fit to recruit a bass player, welcoming Nevla's old band mate H (ex-Rome Burns) into the fold. 2013 was a busy year, with a second album written, a European distribution deal signed, and the release of a new remix album 'Perceptions' featuring re-works by Pretentious, Moi?, Cryogenica, DeathBoy and more. Alas this year also saw Nevla leaving to concentrate on parenthood, but new blood was found in the form of Sam (ex-Voices of Masada/Felinedown) bringing new a new dynamic to the lineup. Back on the road, 2014 saw Last July busy performing a string of gigs across the UK and also winess their first foray into Europe to play at the Dark Diamonds Festival in Austria. 

Sadly in July 2014, with the departure of founding member Dvae the band decided to call it a day...

Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany but originally connected to the roots of the beautiful island of Mauritius. MEL BELL began her musical journey already as a child. Since early childhood she developed her passion for music. She played on various instruments to create her own melodies and thus set the course for the path to electronic music. She always follows herself and designs excellent music that are regularly released on well-known international labels. She completed numerous projects, including classical recordings. Her strengths lie in the development of melodies, and creating that special groove. For her, music is a deep feeling that is marked by freedom and self determination. It is the happiness of a soul to be able to decide this moment by yourself.
