Recorded in 2021. remastered.  I have to have a new way to play the piano. My sister and my son are doing that. They are working out a way to bring the piano to my hospital bed. I can no longer sit up, even in my powerchair. It's too uncomfortable and hard to breathe. I don't have functioning back or abdominal muscles, and I can't lift my head off my chest unless In laying back. Only my arms and hands are semi-functioning. My thumbs are going bad. I can't pull a zipper. I won't be able to play as well and I don't know how I'll work the sustain pedal - but I'll do my best! 😊🎶🎹🎶

Updated 10/02/2025 Why has it been so difficult for everyone to agree that we are destroying our planet? What would it take to change the course of events? Can we finally solve these challenges without violence? Have we learned nothing from the past??? Why have we become so disconnected? 

I love this quote from Carl Sagan's book Contact: “You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.”

A Little At A Time

Cogito ergo sum is a previously unreleased instrumental demo by DestKorn, created in June 2024. The piece is built on the intimate interplay of cello and piano, carrying a melancholic and almost fragile atmosphere. It was never released anywhere – only here, exclusively on SoundCloud, you can listen to it.
Please forgive if the pitch or sound quality isn’t perfect in every detail – this demo is a raw glimpse into my creative process, capturing the unpolished essence of that very moment.

The instruments were created using EastWest and Spitfire Audio libraries, capturing the distinctive character of cello and piano.

The title Cogito ergo sum translates to “I think, therefore I am.” It was chosen because this work is more than just an instrumental – it is a thought, an existential truth transformed into music. Each note is part of that thought, a silent dialogue without words. By listening, you give life to this thought and carry it forward.

Das Stück basiert auf der innigen Verbindung von Cello und Piano und trägt eine melancholische, fast intime Stimmung in sich. This started with a very beautiful piano piece by Tom, then advanced by Jussi’s great electric guitar lead. I added an imagined lyric about someone not being able to commit to a relationship and the song was completed by Boon’s excellent acoustic guitar work. I love the sounds of the 60s and 70s especially. I try to write songs that I would enjoy listening to myself. It’s the only gauge I have. My songs are just the sum total of all my positive listening experiences. I'll let you try to guess who they are!
