This was a world in which money reigned supreme. One might be able to exchange and buy to the hearts content – for what else was there but for the very status of fancy goods and material things? This was planet market – a world in which life came second to the idea of purchase.

The clouds were thick and moody overhead, reminiscent of the sentiment and world which existed down below. Sellers shouted, hustlers moved fast and those out for a quick steal had to be speedy in the midst of the chaos. There were no rules on planet market – it was simply a battle to the top by any means necessary.

What was the price?

NIQH takes us on a futuristic trip. This latest record on Plasma Sources draws upon influence from science fiction and features a style of world building and ambient construction which is intriguing and highly listenable.

The Amsterdam-based label traverse is back with their second compilation in their ‘traversée’ series and sees nine artists who, altogether, shape the vision of traverse through its diversity of music and places. 

Parisian-Malaysian DJ and head of Nehza Records RONI presents her personal track ‘911’ as part of the comp. “This track is a reflection of my life at the moment things are hard mentally as my mother is sick but the world is spinning and good things keep coming into my life, which help me going on. It’s what I wanted to express through all these elements that keep coming and hit one after the order. The sirens & wobble are expressing the constant tension that never disappears while the kick gives the pace & the strength to keep going after a dark moment.”

As we fall back into club season, Typeless looks to the Parisian producer, Trois-Quarts Taxi System, for its tenth release.

Our pick - the appropriately titled ‘hash mix’ of ‘Blades’ - marks a departure from what we've come to expect of the series. Low-end surge still intact, Kami opts for smoked-out breaks while ditching the original’s hard-edged ferocity in favour of gentler hues and woozy rolige.

Nerve Collect goes global with its new and futuristic Machine Learning EP - a thrilling blend of worldly rhythms and twisted electronics from New York based Brazilian-American producer Doctor Jeep aka Andre Lira available as 12” vinyl and on all digital platforms.

Lira is a producer who is able to weave together threads from many different genres into his own new forms. His forward-thinking sounds draw on everything from drum & bass to techno, dancehall to electro, always with an unwavering focus on the dance floor. So far they have come on the eclectic likes of Medellin's TraTraTrax, Berlin’s SPE:C, and his own label DRX (amongst others).

The 6 tracks on this EP showcase Jeep's variety, from the distorted kicks and zippy synths of 'Machine Learning' and 'Mad T', to more straight forward 4x4 techno/tech-house crossovers of 'Shake The Club' and 'Largatixa, to futuristic grime mutations in 'Phase Morph' and ravey dancehall of 'Oil Drum' featuring Montreal-based SIM.

This is another fresh and unpredictable EP from Nerve Collect, although its impact on the club is very predictable: pure carnage.

Before I start releasing new music next year, I have to let go of one thing first. 

Not many people know, but last year in April I lost all my project files (thanks Dropbox backup!). My entire project folder, and everything that I worked on for the past three years were instantly wiped out. This included what would have been my second album. Written during the pandemic, It was not yet finished but I had almost 25 demos to pick from.

At first I was deeply upset and sad for days. Eventually I started to get over it: I was never fully into the album – I liked it but also had my doubts, that it wasn’t as strong as my first album – I didn’t know how it would’ve been received, as it sounded like nothing else I’d released. So I put it aside, tried to move on with my life, eventually forgot about it.

Seven months later, my mum was taken into biopsy for suspected stomach cancer. During that time I stumbled upon that forgotten album. I remember listening to it on repeat after all those months; it helped me get through one of the most difficult times of my life. 

Fortunately, my mum has recovered now, but this incident made me realise that this project can’t sit on my hard drive forever. In these trying times, I believe it's worth sharing this music with the world, hoping it can bring some positivity and comfort to those who listen.

So here it is, Stella Remota. What was for me a light guiding me out of the darkness. What would have been my 2nd album, now for you all to enjoy.

Elpac lurches into the NHS fold with their debut EP, taking form as a selection of four mounds of spasmic drum & bass and dancehall clay. The Pressure Dome affiliated artist captures the essence of his locality – Bristol – through the multiplicity of auditory colours and shapes that define the city’s approach to syncopated, warped electronica eclectica.

The release is fundamentally pacey and pushing, moving in an oddball step along threads of influence with regular moments of transient, oblique leakages. A rich undertone of UK-style sub frequency pervades the collection; the EP is laden with flowing, swelling, pulsing bass that is paired with an unconventional mash of synthesis and percussion.

After over a year since his debut as a producer, we are proud to present "Limerence," the second album by the Mancunian artist Lucas SM. "Limerence" is more than an album; it's an emotional state that shines in a whirlwind between worlds and genres. Comprising three tracks, each one is a distinct chapter in an emotional journey, whether it be a feeling of euphoria or introspection.

Portraying Lucas SM's distinctive ambient influence, smooth pads, shimmering keys, and a massive soundscape effortlessly evoke a profound connection between the music and the listener. While not forsaking the essential elements of the UK's club sound, the drums and basslines slice through the mix like headlights piercing through the mist.

Through a fusion of the UK and Spanish electronic music scenes, alongside the harmonious blending of ambient and club music elements, this EP delivers three exceptional remixes from industry legends. Galician producer Andrae Durden contributes a trance-infused, gated version of "Lucent," while Bristolian Pluralist treats us with an euphoric, ever-ascending remix of "Within Touching Distance." Last but not least, Brighton-to-Bristol, now London-based Syz delivers a rhythmic and percussive banger version of "Within Touching Distance."

"Within Touching Distance," the album's first single, is now available for pre-order on Bandcamp and for streaming on all platforms. The full release of "Limerence" will be on November 29th.
