~'Worn' was written in the summer of 2019 and was recorded using a Yamaha MT3X multitrack cassette recorder.
The cassette tape itself was an old cassette tape which I used to record voice memos on when I was little.

The recording process involved the recording of several sketches, which I then revisited and overdubbed every week over the course of 2019's summer.

SETTING

Summer. The towpath of a canal somewhere in the East of London at the end of a hot sunshine Sunday in an area where groups of youngsters gather together to have fun. 

The opening is a verbal confrontation between two groups of youngsters, we will call them The Blacks and The Whites, being The Blacks a group of young men and The Whites a mix between young men and women. They just met each other on the street.

After Midnight.

Sammie Ray Vaughan is probably the most unknown blues guitar player out there, really doesn't like to boast and show off, never plays a solo, keeps to himself. A model of modesty really. So little is known about him except for the occasional leaked recording...

So when he approached  me to perform a duet, I was a bit hesitant, you know, I'm like an ambient wanker and used to long form, erm, formless stuff. In this outfit I'm called The Exponential Trouble, and it's what I do, I add shit up until it messes the whole thing. 

Not sure we're ever gonna play together again, he's so elusive, Nevertheless, it was a fun session and here's a testament to it.

This exploration is based on a single sample of a prepared piano sound. You will here it at the very beginning. This was done live with a TC Electronic looper, Makenoise Morphagene and Instruo 1047 filter. Pitch changes are done by dialing in different cutoff resonant frequencies on the filter. Rhythm variations come from out of phase loops and also foreshortening of the sample. Panning from the Intellijel Planar 2 Enjoy!
