This presentation is one of several contributing to a one-day conference on the theme of ‘Ecological Impacts of Proposed Jonglei Canal, National Identity Crisis, Communal Conflicts and the Peace in South Sudan’. The conference was convened on Saturday 5th November 2022 at St Antony's College, University of Oxford and was organised by The Sudanese Programme in collaboration with the South Sudanese community (UK) and the Middle East Centre, St Antony's College.

Dr Ahmed Al-Shahi and Dr Richard Barltrop (Trustees of The Sudanese Programme) chaired the conference.
