Nice track, I agree with the volume issues, the pads are much louder than the drums, which get lost a bit. It's a little repetitive but I understand that's down to time constraints :) GL

Great mix, pleasant on the ears.  Well balance and play between parts.

Lovely pad and bass sounds which is difficult for this synth. Really nice mix!

A bit more of a kick cut though perhaps- Sidechaining would be your friend here.

Very close to a 5. I like how the lead is so memorable. Sticks in my head the next day. But it's just a tad repetitive for me. Also at times I wonder if the reverb is too heavy on it. Maybe not. I dunno. Really nice track though.

This song took several tries to get to where i want it. Once i fleshed out the idea, i started layering sounds to get a fuller feel for the track and to decorate the space. im particularly proud of the kick which is three active instances of the synth, i crafted the envelopes down to the milisecond and used an oscilliscope to precisely dial in the timing. I had several initial approaches for the kick none of which worked well. I worked a lot on the percussion to get metallic sounds using the FM function of the synth and also using a lot of EQ to peak frequencies. I woulnd say i went full 11/10 but i went 9/10 on EQ. I also used some distortion, to about 8/10. I accentuated sounds but did not completely distroy them. A lot of texture to certain percussion was obtained by layering different sounds at different pitches and also different FM ratios etc. Playing with envelopes goes a long way. 

The bass sounds are all very simple actually and most are a few layers deep with different waveforms FMing at different ratios and pitches. I was gonna go ballistic on the basses and use EQ, clipping and even convolution to obliterated the sound. But to avoid being DQ i opted for the PG 13 version. 

the amount of automation in this project with greater than 100 instances of the synth has made it a chore to navigate. Some midi clips have 6 or 7 layers of automation and other have only one but heavily adjusted everywhere. the automation i used the most is volume. Cutting sounds so they dont interfere with other sounds and to cut reverb tails, and also to shape sounds since i did not like the way the envelopes in the synth itself worked at times. Working with audio clips would have made this much more easy. I do not think i will go this hard for OSC ever again. But then again...it was kinda fun...

The song is clipped and compressed severely. I could have pushed it harder but i did NOT!! in order to preserve that last gasp of dynamic range that was slowly waiting to die. This is not a ballad, or classical, its dubstep - or something like it. 

The song got its name from the distinct digital alarm sound that we're all so familiar with. I used it in the buildup, in the drop, everywhere...

Nothing on the master except Gclip and ReaLimiter.

Björn aka @Full-Bucket hat es wieder getan: ein neuer Sythesizer. Dieses mal eine Weiterentwicklung des Ragnarok zu Ragnarok2. Ragnarok 2 ist an vielen Stellen "aufgepppt" worden und ist immer noch so interessant wie der "alte" Ragnarok:

- simuliert einen einmaligen, selbst gebauten Synthesizer aus dem Jahr 1980,
- die Bedienung ist einfach, schnell sind interessante Klänge gemacht,
- soundmässig ist der Synth grossartig, von einfachen bis auch zu (sehr) dreckig klingenden sounds,
- der CPU-Hunger ist gering.

Nach langer Zeit habe ich mir diesen Monat mal wieder etwas Zeit genommen um mit dem Synthesizer ein Stück für den KVR One Synth Challenge zu erstellen (ja, genau: nur dieser Synthesizer ist für alle Klänge erlaubt)
10 Jahre sind seit dem letzten Track mit dem Ragnarok vergangen der ich der ESA-Misson Rosetta, insbesondere Philae, gewidmet habe (Rotation 23, verdammt lang her).

Also fragte ich mich: was hat der kleine Lander auf dem Kometen erlebt, im Vorbeiflug um die Sonne und wieder zurück in das All. Was alleine schon total verrückt ist ... und so entstand der der Kometentanz mit Philae :)

Alle in diesem Stück verwendeten Klänge sind von mir von Grund auf erstellt worden oder "Tweaks" der Klänge von der Rotation 23.

Björn aka @Full-Bucket has done it again: a new synthesizer. This time, a further development of Ragnarok into Ragnarok2. Ragnarok 2 has been "upgraded" in many ways and is still as interesting as the "old" Ragnarok:

- simulates a unique, self-built synthesizer from 1980,
- easy to use, interesting sounds are created quickly,
- the synth's sound is great, from simple to (very) dirty sounds,
- it's low on CPU power.

After a long time, I finally took some time this month to create a track with the synthesizer for the KVR One Synth Challenge (yes, that's right: only this synthesizer is allowed for all sounds).
10 years have passed since the last track with the Ragnarok that i dedicated to the ESA Rosetta mission, specifically Philae (Rotation 23, a long time ago).

So I asked myself: what did the little lander experience on the comet, flying past the sun and back into space? Which is totally crazy in itself... and that's how the "Kometentanz mit Philae" (comet dance with Philae) came about :)

All the sounds used in this track were created by me from scratch or are tweaks of the sounds from Rotation 23.
