Yesterday we lost the world's finest jazz and blues Hammond organ player of all time, Joey DeFrancesco.  Joey simply was a legend , a jazz monster and responsible for the resurgence of the classic Hammond sound in so many settings.  Not only did Joey play the organ better than anyone else did or ever had, but he also was a very fine trumpet and tenor sax player - and no one plays both the trumpet and tenor sax in jazz.  But Joey could, did, sang, created 30 albums under his own name, and brought that soulful sound with simply amazing technical and creative abilities.  Difficult to explain the impact that Joey D had on my music, but it just didn't get any better listening to his playing - was fortunate to have seen him several times, including just a few years ago at the Blue Note.  So I'm reposting this blues I recorded about 5 years ago over a teaching backing track that he released.  All the wonderful comping and trio is his work - I just have the lead on this.  RIP Joey.  Damn
