This song was inspired by my nephew who was a sneaker freak!💙🧡 When I wrote this song I was in a dark place of grief and wanted to transmute that energy into healing energy. Although we lost my nephew to gun violence, I feel this is a song that can uplift others dealing with grief and loss due to ANY circumstance. To anyone that hears this song, I hope that it helps you the way it has been helping myself and those around me. You can add your loved ones’ names and memories as you sing along. Ya Girl eL grew up in Richmond, Virginia where she was surrounded by music at home, school, and in church. She participated in choir at church and school, sang songs at home, and even began early songwriting when she rewrote “Roses are Red” in just Kindergarten. The young artist took to journaling to help gather her emotions and combined her songwriting skills releasing her emotions through the creation of her unique style in music.
