calming and yet haunting, terrifying and yet welcoming, the lavish sounds of Anna Cordell majestically weave these long estranged elements together until you find yourself weightless with no sense of space or time. A denizen of the Melbourne music scene, fashion designer for the likes of Stonefield, Courtney Barnett and Marlon Williams and a mother of 5, Cordell injects a unique perspective into her music that willingly embraces both the hopeful and forlorn aspects of our modern era. Her flowing, abstract lyrical style is brought to life by her ethereal voice, warm, ambient guitar, and graceful string sections. The more obvious influences bring to mind the likes of legends such as Sandy Denny and Jefferson Aeroplane, whilst also adding more of a middle eastern, dissonant twist on the 1970’s psychedelic/folk genre courtesy of her Persian heritage.
