Having been a Universal Edition composer since April 2022, Yiu-Kwong Chung is one of Taiwan’s best-known and most sought-after composers. He was a Professor of Music at the National Taiwan University of Arts until 2022 and was the General Director of the Taipei Chinese Orchestra (TCO) from 2007 to 2015. During his tenure with TCO, he has written concerti for numerous top-class soloists, including percussionist Evelyn Glennie, trombonist Christian Lindberg, saxophonist Claude Delangle, cellist Mischa Maisky and Anssi Karttunen, flutists Pierre-Yves Artaud and Sharon Bezaly, in addition to renowned Kronos Quartet; all were world-premiered by the TCO. In June 2012, he conducted the orchestra’s European Tour (with soloist Evelyn Glennie). He staged performances in Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and Le Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris that brought immediate international fame to the Orchestra. From 2009 to 2015, he produced six CDs released worldwide by Swedish BIS Records.

Where indietronica meets the edges of experimental electronic and downtempo. This isn’t just sound—it’s a living, breathing experiment. Electric guitars twist into loops, synths pulse like thoughts, and samplers crack open new worlds.

Armed with a Line 6 DL4 sampler and a passion for experimentation, Simplistic Scientists transform the guitar into a portal to otherworldly dimensions. Through intricate sampling and live manipulation, they conjure ambient textures, ethereal tones, and intricate loops, elevating the collective's sound into uncharted territories.

The Northern Continuum is a group of professional studio musicians dedicated to composing and recording contemporary music influenced by nearly all genres. They are,

In my early years I took piano lessons, regretfully I stopped them in my teens. I've always had a piano in the house and over the years have composed a number of songs (without words). What’s important to me is the melodic nature of the pieces and I wanted to share them with others. The origins of the music are probably influenced by my early classical lessons, Chopin and Schubert to name a couple. I love Liszt’s Hungarian and Rachmaninoff’s Russian styles but sadly my technical ability hampers the inclusion of their techniques.
Today’s home recording software allows many opportunities to develop compositions using other instruments to compliment the piano however, using the software has been a challenge, trying to get the “right” sound for the piano has been the most difficult part of the process. I’m slowly learning and will probably remix some of my current tracks as my experience grows.
Once I have recorded my heritage pieces, I plan to write a new selection of music predominantly piano but also experimenting with more or different instruments, watch this space!
