Retrospek, a hip-hop trio from Boston first came together in 2006 when Rah Intelligence (Producer) and JuneLyfe (MC) met A. Spendacash (MC) through a mutual friend. Rah and June had been friends and musical collaborators since high school. It was at an impromptu cypher outside a show that a light sparked in Rah's mind: Stopping Spenda mid-verse, he shared a vision for making music as a trio with himself, Spenda and Junelyfe. The next week the three met up, put on some records, and vibed out – finding common ground and shared interests that would serve as the basis for future musical collaborations. This was the beginning of the organic chemistry that has defined the groups distinctive sound. And thus in a smokey Roxbury apartment, Retrospek was born.

They met and recorded regularly for the next couple of years and in late 2009 released the EP SOMESHYTWEDID to wide critical acclaim on blogs like potholesinmyblog.com and whiskeyteeth.com,etc. They followed this up with their sophomore EP Boom Bap And Beyond which also received high-praise kevinnottingham.com, dotgotit.com, rule4080.com and etc.

Retrospek continued to record, putting out singles and working with other artists including fellow members of the Cool Collective Reps Music Group (CCRMG), a local hip-hop collective the trio founded. They also began doing more shows, in Boston and beyond, opening for and sharing the stage with artists such as Pharoahe Monch, Raekwon, Styles. P, Sean Price, Guilty Simpson, Blu, and Mikey Factz.

2012 marks the release of their debut LP, Sleepwalker's Remedy and Retrospek continues to set the bar higher for themselves with each successive release. They are a group truly greater than the sum of its parts, each individual bringing unique skills and perspectives into the equation. United by a shared appreciation for music and outlook on the craft, especially the decaying state of hip-hop, Retro continues to push the limits, injecting integrity into a music dominated by the commercial and superficial.

This is a song I recorded quickly as a demo less than a week before the big Earthquake in Japan in March 2011. So at that time, I did not feel comfortable working on it anymore. Now that some time has passed, I listened to it again, and I think maybe it may have been a decent idea and even have some potential.

We love Soundcloud, but there's WAY TOO MUCH SPAM! It's ruining the website and driving people out of the community. How can you tell whether someone is really following you anymore, or if they're just a bot trying to collect listeners? How can you tell if a comment is authentic?

Soundcloud has done absolutely nothing to prevent spam, besides the superficial "mark as spam" listing available to users. When you mark a comment or a message as spam, it does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to prevent the spammer from harassing others. Soundcloud does not take action against spammers because they are part of the business model. More listens + comments = $.

There are plenty of spammers and businesses that are making money off of this model as well. Just look at blogs like sublvl.com; their entire audience is composed of listeners whom they've spammed.

This account was created to focus attention on this problem and to pressure soundcloud into putting together some actual preventative measures against spam. considering the price they charge for an account, they should be able to afford it!

The similar life experiences and ideologies urged the two childhood friends - Apep Thamuz and Korrupted to express and convey the macabre in their art to the masses by forming a Black Metal band called Korrupted Soulz during the winters of 2009 in Ambernath. A few days later, they invited AF - the cousin of Apep Thamuz to play drums. The three piece band now started writing their own music from the very same day. They were prominently inspired by bands like Disembodied Corpse, Cosmic Infusion and Infernal Wrath which were responsible for laying a strong foundation of Metal culture in their suburb. But while working on their 3-track demo EP 'Meet The Pain', it became too challenging for them to sustain the integrity of the band and overcome various barriers in their respective lives. Thus, the struggling yet a stagnant phase of the band, unfortunately led to the departure of their drummer by the end of 2011.

However, perseverance and patience paid them its price in the mid of 2012, when the duo started working on their new material with Xa Mul - the ex-drummer and founder member of the underground Death/Doom Metal band from Thane called Mördare. His influences and proficiency in extreme metal drumming was favorable for their aggressive music. Xa Mul’s utmost dedication proved to be a strong backbone for the newly re-formed militia. Whilst the three were writing music for their upcoming EP, the introduction of Nemestrinus widened the band’s musical dimensions. Apart from sincere lyrics, his guitar playing perfectly blended with the gruesome compositions of Apep Thamuz. The unearthly vocals further signified a deeper meaning to the band’s lyrics. The band thus re-developed a bold philosophy, an original sound and a strong persona of its own. It also adopted a matured lyrical theme which was averse to the authority of Religion, Corporation and Government. Therefore, they re-entitled themselves as AVERSUS.

According to Aversus, the early days of their struggle were definitely a boon in disguise since it nurtured the band’s vision and strengthened it to become an unstoppable force for the sole purpose of accomplishing its objective of liberating the enslaved from their captives. For them, their passion is the deity they worship and they consider themselves as its loyal devotees. But in order to bring back the glory to their disheartened Mother, it was important for them to free themselves before unchaining the rest of the brotherhood. And that's when they chose to separate their existence from social, emotional, mental, religious, economic, political and such superficial bondages created by the civilization for restricting the attainment of freedom. Consequently, their hunger for liberation abolished the reign of masters who had labelled their souls as corrupted. Such a rebellion costed them to be abandoned in solitude, but they embraced this exile which in turn inspired them to discover the darker dimensions of philosophy and art. It embarked the actual commencement of their musical journey. The slaves had now become warlike barbarians. The lessons they took became their lyrics, the musical instruments became their weapons, the stage became their battlefield and they gradually evolved into warriors who took the oath of restoring the splendor and the grandeur to their Mother's womb. Her messengers would safeguard Her purity and nourish the faith in Her with their music. Her enthronement would mark the accomplishment of their inevitable destination. Long live our sacred Mother Metal.
