The Suit and the Grief

This song is based on two incidents that happened to me.  One I was on a boat with Scotsman and a German (I'm from the USA).  I was having difficulty understanding the other native English speaker (The Scotsman),  So the German helped me out by translating the Scots English to American English for me.  The other is me understanding my 3 year old Grandson.  Frequently his mother (my daughter) had to translate the 3 years old English for me.

This is a collaboration between myself and Dave Cooper (warfydave).  I wrote the lyrics.  Then Dave Cooper built the guitar chords and provided the melody and vocals.  I then completed it by adding the other instruments and mixing and mastering the song.

Nobody’s Garden

A few years back I made a track called ‘Dreamwerk’ and this piece takes some ideas from it and dresses itself up dubstep fashion.

Not one for strict genre compliance, it is almost accidental that I’ve made anything even close to dubstep.

Had a bit of a nightmare with the wobble bass and some timing issues with the midsection of the arrangement, but the rest fell together fairly easily.

This was purposefully made with as few bells and whistles as possible, so as not to overcomplicate the mix, giving (with any luck) a more raw yet humble result. Hope it doesn’t come across as lazy…

This is a track from 2019, and has been unearthed because it remains one of my favorite collaborations with vocals. The poignant and bittersweet lyrics sung in Pia’s beautiful soft voice offer an inviting sincerity......and then there's that ending. :)
