ultra rare is a trans-media platform wanting to showcase works situated at an “intersection”. The intersection of
genres, mediums and identities.

ultra rare ambitions to be a home for artists challenging traditional boundaries through their work and own identities;
a testimony of the cultural hybridisation and multi-polarisation defining our zeitgeist.

Initiated by musician and DJ u.r.trax, the desire to create a space for artistic expressions in her own image emerged
as a necessity.
While the starting point of ultra rare is spreading sounds, it is also about blending them to other practices like visual/
digital arts, writing, or coding when bringing them to life.

The inaugural release on the platform is “left the club, meet me at the post-club”, a compilation curated by u.r.trax
that explores ethereal textures, deconstructed and freaky patterns, organic and mystical atmospheres. It is
“résolument” post club.

It opens on track “-3” by french “hybrid music designer” Hom made using a Max patch the artist coded himself. A
mix of extremes. A condensation of sonic intensity. A musical UFO, starting with ethereal melodies, ending on ultra
violent distorted kick riffles. You’re lost, is it slow, is it fast ? Is it so fast, that is it slow ? Hom disorients.

Brazilian artist JLZ contributes to the compilation with a hyper mystical tribal gqom banger. The clash between the
acoustic drums played and recorded by the artist and the amapiano-like bass locates the track at a very interesting
spot on the music map. Organic, dark but super club friendly.

Brooklyn based artist Swaya delivers another otherworldly track holding a teetering sensibility to it in the manipulation
of melodic samples that ebb and flow while the drums weave in and out and hit you over the head.

When multidisciplinary artist L.FRX aka Lou Fauroux and producer u.r.trax meet, it gives sweat and computer heat.
“hey phone, can we talk for a minute?” questions our feelings about our relationship to technology. When the screen
crosses the border of our own body, that often feels odd and dissociative. L.FRX generated the text and the vocals
around which inspired u.r.trax to produce this deconstructed post-ghetto banger.

Hugo Mesi somehow prolongs these reflections with his high intensity “can i slide into your mind?”. We can hear
how the Estonian minimal techno heritage of Hugo is revisited in a completely crazy and limits-pushing way.

“turn you off” is a freaky footwork redefinition of Ojerime’s song by artist Le Kaiju. The energy is controlled,
maintained at a high level throughout the whole track, still exploring many emotions. Certified club banger.

“they self destructed me” brings a new look on emo rap by presenting it in a post club environment. L.FRX’
sensibility is so much present in this extremely moving track that beautifully closes the compilation.
